I'd been craving sashimi lately, and it turned out my partner wanted the same thing for dinner, so I looked up good spots in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon and this is where we ended up haha😆

We visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch. We ordered flounder, rockfish, mullet, and even raw shrimp since it's in season — the portions were more generous than expected, and the two of us left completely full🤭 The raw shrimp especially were plump and already cleaned, so they were easy to eat, and the sashimi overall was so fresh it really stuck with me.

I visited as part of a Superchart campaign, but we paid part of the bill ourselves, and this review is based on what we actually ate — a real report on a Yeonsu-dong, Incheon sashimi restaurant with raw shrimp😳🫣

Where is Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch and how do you get there?

Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is on the 3rd floor of Yeonsu Plaza, 106 Beotkkotro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Since it's on the 3rd floor, you take the elevator up and find it toward the far end of the hallway🤭

There's a signature Veteran character at the entrance, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit. This trip was for dinner, and I was already looking forward to it before we even walked in🤭

What are the interior and seating like at Veteran General Fish Market?

Here are photos of the interior🤭 Inside, the place was much larger than I expected, with tables split into several zones and semi-transparent partitions in between, giving some separation from neighboring tables😆

Interior tables divided by semi-transparent partitions

Maybe because they recently moved, the overall vibe felt a bit cleaner and more organized than a typical sashimi restaurant😳🫣 They recently relocated from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor.

The spacing between tables was decent too, good for anything from a two-person meal to a bigger group gathering. There were lighting accents here and there, and the evening atmosphere was pretty nice😳🫣

What I liked most was that every table had its own tablet for ordering, which made things really convenient.

What to pick up at the self-bar: wrap vegetables, kimchi pancake, dessert

The self-bar at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch was kept clean and tidy🤭 Most side dishes come out automatically and you top up if you need more, but lettuce wraps aren't included by default — you need to grab those yourself here.

Next to the self-bar you could also make your own kimchi pancake (kimchijeon). My partner worked really hard making it🤭 He fried it almost like deep-frying, getting it nice and crispy.

There was coffee and ice cream ready for dessert on the way out.

What two people ordered at Veteran General Fish Market, and the prices

Here's what we ordered that day.

  • Flounder+rockfish+mullet sashimi (2 people): ₩38,000
  • Mini raw shrimp sashimi (10 pcs): ₩25,000
  • Seafood ramyeon: ₩6,500
  • Byeolbit Cheonha (soju): ₩6,000
  • Chamisul (soju): ₩5,000
  • Cass (beer): ₩5,000

Since it was just the two of us, I thought about only ordering sashimi, but I couldn't skip the raw shrimp, and in the end we added seafood ramyeon for broth too😆 Bottom line — the menu choices were pretty satisfying.

The basic side dishes included seaweed soup, salted pollock roe, salad and more. Overall the side dishes were solid. Since we ordered sashimi, they later brought out grilled saury and corn cheese too, and my partner loved the grilled saury👍🏻👍🏻

If you're the type who cares about side dishes as much as the sashimi itself when picking a spot in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon, this could be a plus for you🤭

Flounder, rockfish and mullet sashimi so fresh it twitches on the plate

The sashimi that day was really impressive😮 The plate had flounder, rockfish and mullet, and the condition was remarkably fresh. In particular, the sashimi on the plate was still twitching, as if the nerves were still alive😳🫣

The first time we saw it we were like, wait, is this actually moving? and we both just stared for a while😮 This is one of those things a video captures far better than a photo. If freshness matters to you when picking a sashimi restaurant in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon, this is worth keeping in mind🤭

Seafood ramyeon at 6,500 won, packed with shellfish

When you're eating sashimi with drinks, you crave a spicy broth at some point. That's why we ordered the seafood ramyeon🤭 But this was more than a simple instant noodle dish — the broth looked properly spicy in the photos, and it was loaded with shellfish. There was even a whole shrimp in there, so the seafood lineup was pretty solid👍🏻👍🏻

A spoonful of broth plus noodles, and it really sobered us up in the best way, perfect for round two. Even with a full stomach from the sashimi, it still went down easily🤭

Mini raw shrimp plate at 25,000 won, peeled and ready to eat

And the dish I enjoyed the most that day was, without a doubt, the raw shrimp sashimi🤭 Maybe because it's shrimp season, the shrimp were really plump. The shells and heads were already mostly cleaned, so it was really easy to eat.

With raw shrimp, the hassle of cleaning it yourself usually interrupts the flow of eating, but here it came already prepped, so you could just grab it with chopsticks and go🤭

The spicy buldak-mayo-style sauce with flying fish roe

And the sauce for the raw shrimp was really the kicker👍🏻 It came with a spicy sauce similar to buldak-mayo, plus flying fish roe, and the combination worked better than I expected. I like spicy food, so I dunked the shrimp deep into that buldak-mayo sauce. The sweetness of the shrimp with the spicy sauce made it hard to stop reaching for more😳🫣

My partner, on the other hand, preferred soy sauce or chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), so he mostly dipped his in those. It was great that even with the same raw shrimp, each of us could enjoy it with a different sauce based on our own taste🤭 The buttered fried shrimp was also lightly fried and coated in something like sugar, making it extra crispy and delicious. Personally, the raw shrimp was the dish that stuck with me most from that day👍🏻

Verdict after a full meal for two at Veteran General Fish Market

This visit to Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch left both my partner and me satisfied👍🏻 What stuck with me most: the freshness of the flounder+rockfish+mullet sashimi, the plump raw shrimp, the spicy shrimp sauce, the corn cheese and grilled saury sides, and the kimchi pancake we made ourselves at the self-bar🤭

The raw shrimp especially won me over👍🏻 Being in season, the flesh was plump and sweet, and dipped in the spicy sauce it was the perfect drinking snack.

Table set with sashimi, raw shrimp and side dishes

The sashimi felt distinctly fresh too, and seeing it actually move left a strong impression about freshness👍🏻 So personally, if I'm looking for a Yeonsu-dong, Incheon spot for a day I want both sashimi and raw shrimp, this is a place I'd consider👍🏻👍🏻

Ice cream dessert to finish the meal

We finished off with a full serving of ice cream, and both of us headed home with completely full stomachs. Such a good meal😆
