Jeju Korean bar for raw shrimp and spicy roe jjampong: Jumo
In short
Jumo is a Korean bar in Yeon-dong, Jeju, near Jeju Airport. On our last night in Jeju, the two of us had 10 raw shrimp for 29,000 won and spicy roe jjampong for 24,000 won, and loved the plump, chewy shrimp and fiery broth. Verdict: a great atmospheric spot for drinks in Jeju.

Our last night in Jeju at Jumo in central Yeon-dong
I visited Jumo, a Korean bar in central Yeon-dong near Jeju Airport that sells big raw shrimp. Since it was our last night in Jeju, we ended up looking for Jumo near the airport!
- Open Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. the following day; closed every Sunday. Last orders are at midnight.
- Naver reservations are available, as are takeout and delivery.
- There are separate men's and women's restrooms inside, but parking is unavailable.
- Private rentals need to be booked in advance.

✨ They say you get one bottle of alcohol free when you write a receipt review! ✨

The address says basement level 1, but when I went in person, it was on an uphill stretch, so it felt more like a semi-basement than a true B1??

Once you open the shop door and go in, you have to open another door, too!

A busy atmosphere even on a weeknight
I visited after 9 p.m. on a weekday, and there were so many people! From the snippets of conversation I heard, there seemed to be lots of foreigners and travelers, too. The lighting was not overly bright, which I also loved ~ 💡🕯️

The interior was decorated in such a cute, charming way! There were props that would make it nice to take photos for a birthday celebration. It seems like it would be a good place to visit on your birthday, too ~ 🎂

They also sell traditional Korean alcohol!

The restrooms are inside the restaurant, with separate facilities for men and women! On the huge screen, they were playing old movies that made the atmosphere even better. I think it would also be fun to come with friends for a baseball or soccer match, cheer at Jumo, and have delicious food.

Ordering the basic raw shrimp sashimi and spicy roe jjampong
I tend to check what food a place sells before I go, and I knew raw shrimp was an absolute must-order!

Of course, I was planning to drink soju, but I saw strawberry makgeolli (Korean rice wine) and hesitated for a moment.. It looked sweet, like strawberry milk!!

Plump, chewy raw shrimp sashimi
☑️ Raw shrimp sashimi ₩29,000 The basic size is 10 shrimp; the medium, with 15 shrimp, costs an extra ₩14,000, and the large, with 20 shrimp, costs an extra ₩27,000. The two of us visited together! At first, I considered ordering the medium, but since we had come all this way, it felt a little sad to have just one dish, so we ordered the basic 10 shrimp.

When you order the raw shrimp, they give you gim (roasted seaweed) and chojang (sweet-spicy dipping sauce) with flying-fish roe!

Raw shrimp and butter-grilled shrimp heads!! The shrimp were so plump and wonderfully chewy—exactly the taste I wanted 🤤

Can you see how big the raw shrimp were?! No matter how I photographed them, I couldn't capture their size, so I took a photo with a spoon 🦐🥄

Spicy roe jjampong loaded with roe and milt
☑️ Spicy roe jjampong ₩24,000 This was our second dish: spicy roe jjampong! It was packed with roe and gon-i (soft fish milt). We let it bubble away nicely, and ate the raw shrimp while it cooked.
We ate some of the raw shrimp while waiting for the jjampong, so quite a few had disappeared already haha. Can you see how generously it was filled with roe, milt, and all kinds of seafood? There was such a lot of it!! I absolutely loved the hot, spicy broth. It was a very satisfying dish with soju.
The spicy roe jjampong comes with udon noodles by default. It is only a small tasting portion, so if you want more, you can add udon noodles for ₩3,000! The broth had soaked in beautifully, and the noodles were delightfully chewy ~ 👍
If you are looking for an atmospheric bar in Jeju
Jumo is a raw-shrimp favorite in Jeju with such a nice-vibe bar atmosphere that I think I would become a regular if it were near my home! It was such a lovely time, getting to round off our final night in Jeju in such an atmospheric way at Jumo 🩵🩵🩵
Since takeout is available, it would be nice to take it back and eat at your accommodation, too. On weekends, I recommend making a reservation in advance before visiting!! If you are looking for an atmospheric bar in Jeju, I recommend Jumo!!
