Weekend open-run for spicy pesto stone-plate jajangmyeon in Songjeong
In short
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate jajangmyeon and jjamppong Chinese restaurant near Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. The writer arrived 30 minutes before the 11am weekend opening, waited in the car, then ordered the spicy pesto stone-plate jajangmyeon (medium) with handmade dumplings and thick-cut mempo-sha. The chili pesto packs real heat but rice comes free and food arrives fast, so an open-run or remote queuing app is the move on weekends.

Here's my review of Songjeong Dol Jjamppong (송정돌짬뽕), a Chinese restaurant near Songjeong Beach! I'd been wanting to try this place for months, and this time I finally had the time, so I went — figured I'd check out Songjeong Beach too!
Weekend open-run? Arrived at 10:30 for the 11am opening
I had other plans that morning and got there around 10:30, even though it opens at 11. I thought about walking Songjeong Beach first, but there were already so many people doing an open-run in front of the restaurant that we decided to eat first and sightsee later, haha.
If you want to eat on a weekend without waiting, I'd say either do an open-run or avoid peak hours!
- Daily 11:00–21:00
- Break time 15:30–17:00
- Last order 20:00
- Parking available (details in the photos below)

Parking is fairly generous
There's parking for about 4 cars right in front of the restaurant, plus room for over 10 more nearby! Everyone doing an open-run was waiting in their cars, so we did the same and went in when it opened!

Jjamppong or jajangmyeon? Picking a menu
The menu is pretty diverse — first you decide between jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) or jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles), then choose between white jjamppong or spicy jajangmyeon. We ordered the spicy pesto stone-plate jajangmyeon, handmade dumplings, and mempo-sha (deep-fried shrimp sandwich)!

The basic side dishes are simple! If you want more, there's a self-serve bar.

Make sure to read the 'how to eat it right' sign! And whatever you do, don't scrape the bottom of the stone plate. We mixed it up too much lol, and the crispy scorched rice never formed... haha.

They give out ade if you take part in the review event, so definitely join in!

The country-of-origin labeling is clearly posted, and the restroom is on the 3rd floor!
Baby-friendly too
They had a microwave for warming up baby food, warm barley tea, and even yogurt for after the meal ready to go!

How fast does the food come out?
The food came out really fast! Since we did the open-run, we all walked in together, took a while deciding, and ordered a bit late — but the dishes still came out in order, one after another, super quickly. I was honestly surprised!

Spicy pesto stone-plate jajangmyeon: not for the spice-shy
The spicy pesto stone-plate jajangmyeon comes topped with a pesto made from cheongyang chili peppers! It's spicy, so if you can't handle heat, do NOT order this one. If you're spice-averse, order jajangmyeon or jjamppong at the mildest level!
Doesn't it look amazing sizzling away! You need to let it sit for a bit like this.
Once the sizzling calmed down we mixed it up — maybe a bit too much, lol. That's the scorched-rice issue I mentioned earlier, haha.

Inside were big chunks of shrimp and squid, and the sauce was rich and delicious! And it was seriously spicy~~~

The sauce soaked in perfectly for that gorgeous color!

Sides: handmade gyoza dumplings and thick-cut mempo-sha
I highly recommend the handmade gyoza dumplings as a side! Seriously good. My fiancé is a total dumpling fiend and always orders dumplings anywhere that sells them — and he said these were great too, haha.

They were packed full inside, with a nice variety of ingredients!

The mempo-sha was also really good, but watch out — it's hot! You could burn the roof of your mouth, haha.
Can you see how thick it is? Packed full of shrimp. I remember eating it while going 'hot hot hot,' haha. After the first one we started cutting it in half with scissors — everyone should cut it from the start~

Scorched rice on the bottom is the real deal when it forms properly — sigh, next time I'll do it right for sure!

Rice bowl is free from the start
Oh, and one more thing! They give you a free bowl of rice right from the beginning here. Love that so much~

The jajangmyeon sauce is delicious, so I really recommend mixing your rice in, haha. We ordered the medium size and there was so much we had a little left over! If it's three women eating together, ordering the medium size and adding an extra side dish might work well too, haha.

We sipped yogurt to neutralize the spice — honestly, without it I think I might have died from the heat, haha! I'm pretty spice-averse, while my fiancé is a spice maniac, so he said it was amazingly, amazingly delicious!

What about the weekend wait?
This photo is from around 11:30 — the very first group had already finished and left, and the wait was starting to build! On weekends, I'd say pre-book with a waiting app like Catch Table or keep checking wait status remotely and queue from afar!
The inner space is set up for people waiting! There were tables on the other side too, and it was spacious. Everyone can wait comfortably inside in the AC~
