Haeundae food hall dessert shop with a mini mango cake: Sijeunikeu

In short

Sijeunikeu is a dessert shop selling seasonal-fruit cakes in the B1 food hall of Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch in Haeundae, Busan. For a birthday, four adults shared a mini mango cake (39,000 won) from Sijeunikeu, and even though it was the mini size it was piled with mango and the fresh cream was not sweet, so the parents liked it too. For a fruit birthday cake around Haeundae or Centum City, Sijeunikeu is a solid choice.

Sijeunikeu cake, a must-try spot near Shinsegae Centum City Station @For my bebe, heart

For my birthday not long ago, I bought a cake from Shinsegae Centum. It's a cake I'd had my eye on for a while, and it turned out way tastier than expected — here's my review of Sijeunikeu cake, which made a pretty great birthday cake. :)

What kind of place is Sijeunikeu in Shinsegae Centum City?

Sijeunikeu is a seasonal-fruit cake brand located in the basement food hall of Shinsegae Department Store's Centum City branch. Their concept is picking the tastiest fruit of each season for their cakes, so every time I walked past the food hall, the gorgeous displays always caught my eye. I'd been telling myself I had to try it for a birthday, and this time I finally used my birthday as the excuse. haha

So it seems the cakes on sale change a bit depending on the season. Looking at the cakes lined up in the showcase, every single one looked so delicious... they just grabbed your attention from across the room!

Sijeunikeu's signature menu item is the Warreureo Farm Cake — true to its name (warreureo means "piled up in a rush"), the fruit is literally piled all over the top, and it looks so good you want to take a bite the second you see it. haha

Mango cake prices and how much you get in the mini size

When I visited, Sijeunikeu was selling mango cake, peach cake, and fig cake, and the prices varied a bit depending on the type and size. I decided on the mango cake without hesitation because the mangoes just looked so good. :) The cake priced at ₩53,000 was labeled as containing a whopping 4 whole mangoes.

My family has pretty small appetites, so haha, this time I ordered the mini size, sold for ₩39,000. I figured the mini might come with less fruit, but the mango was actually piled on more generously than I expected. Four adults shared it, and for my family it was just the right amount.

How does Sijeunikeu package the cake? Candle and cooling pack

Sijeunikeu wraps the cake up neatly and includes a basic candle. If you're traveling further or need extra cooling, you can also buy an insulated bag separately. I wasn't going far, so I didn't get the insulated bag, but they tucked in a small cooling pack anyway, which kept the cake a little fresher along the way.

How does the mango cake taste? Fresh cream and seasonal mango

When I opened it up at home, this was the sight!!! Fruit really was piled all over it, and just looking at it made me happy. My mom saw the cake and let out a "wow~" haha. With so much seasonal mango on top, you could really taste the natural sweetness of the mango itself. The cake sponge had a fresh-cream base with a strong milky flavor, not overly sweet or sharp, which my parents also loved.

Sijeunikeu's cake turned out to be even better than I expected. Since it wasn't overly sweet, it felt less like eating a typical whipped-cream cake and more like eating a delicious fresh mango dessert. :) Thanks to that, even my little ones ate the mango so well... both Heart and Mango picked out just the mango pieces and happily ate them. haha

Is Sijeunikeu worth it for a birthday cake?

Since it's piled with seasonal fruit, I think families who love fruit will be even more satisfied. Since new fruit cakes come out each season, I'm already curious what kind of cake will show up next birthday. I was pretty satisfied after trying it this time, so I think I'll keep coming back to Sijeunikeu for birthdays from now on. :) If you're looking for a birthday cake or fruit cake spot around Haeundae or Centum, give Sijeunikeu cake in the Shinsegae Centum City food hall a try. ❤️
