Yeonsinnae pork cutlet restaurant: mixed katsu at Katsu Monster
In short
Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, a one-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station, with separate solo seats that make eating alone easy. Over lunch with a friend, the writer ordered the mixed katsu (sirloin + tenderloin) at 16,000 won and the hire katsu (tenderloin) at 14,000 won to taste the two cuts side by side, for 30,000 won in total. Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is small and has no parking, but the location by the station and the generous portions make it a solid lunch pick in Yeonsinnae.

Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a one-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station and even has solo seating, so I stopped by for lunch with a friend. We ordered both hire katsu and mixed katsu so we could compare the tenderloin and sirloin directly — and there were a couple of small downsides too.

It's a one-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station — about 108 meters. You barely have to think about the route before the storefront sign comes into view. It's open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with last order at 8:15 p.m., every day of the year. There's no dedicated parking, so public transit is the way to go.
Why pick Katsu Monster for a pork cutlet lunch in Yeonsinnae?
Some days, as lunchtime approaches, all I can think about is crispy-crumbed tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet). Today was one of those days. I met a friend at Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station around 1 p.m., headed for nearby Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch — a tonkatsu specialty restaurant known for drawing both solo lunch diners and groups of two to four.
Inside Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch: how are the solo seats?
Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is on the first floor, with a sign at the entrance featuring a monster-character illustration. The full menu board is set up outside, so you can check the menu before even stepping in.

There's a delivery pickup locker set up outside the store, which gave the impression that takeout and delivery orders are steady here too.

Inside, the bar table and regular tables are laid out nicely, and there are dedicated solo seats too, so eating alone doesn't feel awkward at all. Even well past lunchtime on my visit, there were about three solo diners in the store.

A lit-up, tonkatsu-shaped wall decoration naturally catches your eye once you sit down. Every table has a tablet-style kiosk, so you can order and pay all in one place.

On the table, wasabi, salt, and wooden chopsticks are neatly arranged, and instead of water, they serve a cool tea.
Katsu Monster menu and prices
The menu at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch ranges from single items like rosu katsu, hire katsu, cheese katsu, and sang-rosu katsu to combination dishes like mixed katsu, mix katsu, and triple katsu, plus solo and two-person sets. Noodle dishes like cold soba or cold udon can be ordered alongside too.

We ordered the mixed katsu (sirloin + tenderloin) for ₩16,000 and the hire katsu (tenderloin) for ₩14,000, coming to ₩30,000 total.
How the hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet) tastes
The ₩14,000 hire katsu comes sliced neatly into two rows, served with a shredded cabbage salad, kimchi, pickled radish, soup, and a bowl of rice — a full, hearty spread.

You can see a faintly pink cross-section through the breading. Bite in and the crust shatters crisply while the meat inside is moist and tender. The nearly fat-free tenderloin has a clean, light flavor that finishes with a subtle meaty note at the end. It's good dipped in tonkatsu sauce, but with just a touch of salt, the natural flavor of the meat comes through even more clearly.
Mixed katsu: sirloin vs. tenderloin, what's the difference?
The ₩16,000 mixed katsu lets you taste sirloin and tenderloin side by side on one plate.

The sirloin side has streaks of fat running through the lean meat, and the more you chew, the more that rich, savory flavor comes through, with a noticeably stronger meaty aroma than the tenderloin. The tenderloin side is soft and light, similar to the hire katsu we had earlier. Alternating between the two, the fat's richness and the lean meat's cleanness naturally contrast with each other, and you keep reaching for more without getting tired of it. I thought this would be a great choice if you can't decide between the two cuts.
What's good and what falls short at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch
What I liked most was how close it is to Yeonsinnae Station — the accessibility is great. And with dedicated solo seats, enjoying tonkatsu alone doesn't feel like a burden.

The portions are generous for the price too, making for a satisfying lunch. Takeout and delivery are both available, and I could see the pickup locker outside getting steady use. On the downside, the store itself isn't very large, so it could feel a bit cramped if several people show up at once, and with no dedicated parking, arriving by car could be inconvenient.
Is Katsu Monster worth it for lunch in Yeonsinnae?
Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a tonkatsu specialty restaurant close to Yeonsinnae Station, a good option whenever you're looking for a lunch spot or a place to eat solo.

The hire katsu stood out for its light, tender tenderloin texture, while the mixed katsu let me enjoy the richness of sirloin and the tenderness of tenderloin at the same time. The store isn't large and parking is difficult, which is a bit disappointing, but given the near-station location, solo-friendly seating, and generous portions, it's worth a visit when you're after tonkatsu for lunch in Yeonsinnae.
