Gangneung beach burger restaurant with lobster burgers: Burger Bar

Burger Bar information right by Sageunjin Beach

Burger Bar (버거바) is a great handmade burger spot in Gangneung right in front of Sageunjin Beach. It is at 188-12 Anhyeon-dong, Gangneung-si, open daily from 11:00 to 19:00, and closed on Wednesdays.

• You can park in the lot in front of the restaurant, the Ara Pension lot behind the building, or along the nearby beachside curb.
• Corkage is free, there is a restroom, and pets are welcome too.

My friend and I came to hang out at Sageunjin Beach and stopped by Burger Bar, which is famous for handmade burgers in Gangneung!! They make American-style smash burgers from scratch here, and the ocean spreads out right in front of the restaurant, so the view was seriouslyyyy amazing 🌊✨

This is the mirror photo spot out front—when the weather is nice, it magically turns into a picture frame, haha.

It was featured on KBS 6 O'Clock My Hometown, too. And the owner is a chef with a Michelin one-star background~~!

A hip restaurant where you can eat with an ocean view

The atmosphere inside was really hip 🎶 The space was fairly roomy too, so it was nice to take our time over a meal while looking at the sea.

But seriously, can a burger restaurant's view look like this? Gangneung really is love...ㅠㅠ

Gangneung-inspired burger menu

The menu was quite varied. There were lots of options highlighting Gangneung's local character, including a red snow crab burger, lobster burger, and Daegwallyeong songgo mushroom burger!! There are no set meals; you just add each item you want individually. I photographed the full menu, including items not shown on the Naver menu, so please check the photos :-)

They also have a receipt review event. If you are picked for first place, your whole bill is free, haha 👍🏻

Free Gangneung potato chips

While waiting for our burgers, we tried the complimentary potato chips. Apparently, they are made with Gangneung potatoes?! 🥔

They were super crispy and delicious, so we even got a refill while waiting for the burgers, haha.

Jumunjin squid burger and lobster burger

We ordered two burgers: the Jumunjin squid burger and the lobster burger. The burgers here are quite substantial, so even ordering one each between two people felt very filling 😋

This is what it feels like to eat outside. Sageunjin Beach is all in view....!!! You can see the sea indoors too, but there is also a full terrace area outside, so on a nice day it would be great to eat burgers outdoors while watching the ocean.

Small milkshake

The milkshake we ordered with the burgers! We were going to get soda but chose a shake instead, and taking a sip of the sweet, smooth milkshake between bites of the savory, rich burgers was absolutely perfect, haha.

Jumunjin squid burger

First up was the Jumunjin squid burger my friend chose. It uses squid, one of Gangneung's signature seafoods 🦑 It comes with crispy fried squid tentacles and red cabbage coleslaw in a squid-ink bun.

The red cabbage coleslaw had a nice crunch, making the overall flavor bright and refreshing. In particular, the sauce really balanced the fried squid, which could otherwise feel rich! It definitely felt different from an ordinary burger, so it is worth trying if you like seafood!!

Lobster burger

This was the lobster burger I chose 🦞 When else are you going to have a burger like this if not at a beachside burger restaurant~~

It is loaded with a whole lobster tail in flying-fish-roe mayo, assorted vegetables, lemon dressing, and lobster bisque sauce!

The lobster burger also came with sauce served in a lobster shell. They told us to pour it over the burger.

I tried it with the sauce poured over it, and I could taste both the lobster and the savory patty. The lemon dressing kept it from feeling heavy and made it refreshing. The plump lobster, patty, sauce, and vegetables all worked really well together!

Since a lobster burger is not something you come across often, it was a burger worth choosing at this Gangneung handmade burger spot with special menu options!! 🍔

Final thoughts on Burger Bar by Sageunjin Beach

So that was my visit to 🍔Burger Bar🍔. Being able to eat burgers right in front of Sageunjin Beach, along with the unusual menu, made it a nice place to stop during a Gangneung trip! 🌊 If you are looking for a Gangneung handmade burger spot with an ocean view while traveling, Burger Bar seems like a place where you can really soak up the travel mood :-)
