Gangnam Korean restaurant for beef tartare rice bowls: 1992 Deopbap

In short

1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch is a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station in Seoul. My friend and I had the 13,500 won Jeolla-style beef tartare rice bowl with extra tartare and the seafood ssamjang pork rice bowl, both generously loaded with vegetables. Verdict: an easy choice for a solo meal or casual dinner with a friend.

I came with a friend that day and ordered Korean dishes for a simple dinner. The receipt-review event is explained in detail on the table too, so join in and get the perks!

Tonight’s dinner was Korean food! This is the Jeolla-style beef tartare rice bowl I ordered.

It was piled high with vegetables, and adding extra beef tartare made it a seriously generous portion! Hehe, haha.

I also snapped the banchan (small side dishes) and steamed egg that came with the full Korean meal set. You can switch the steamed egg for stew, but since the Jeolla-style beef tartare rice bowl had a sweet-tangy sauce with a slight kick, I chose the steamed egg without hesitation.

A bite of the seafood ssamjang pork rice bowl too

This is the seafood ssamjang (fermented soybean dipping paste) pork rice bowl my protein-loving friend ordered.

Fire-grilled pork belly and seafood ssamjang are a dream combination; just looking at it, the protein boost is absolutely packed!! If pork alone feels a little plain, dip it generously into the ssamjang served alongside it for an even tastier bite.

Then it was time to properly start on our own meals.

Personally, all those vegetables made it feel like a genuinely complete meal! This is exactly why I love Korean food so much.

I stole a bite of my friend’s pork rice bowl too, and it was not overly seasoned, so it was really nice and light to eat!! Haha.

At this Gangnam Station rice restaurant, I could completely understand the claim that it holds the philosophy of Jeolla-style cooking in every dish. The flavors are clear rather than vague, and you can feel the care that has gone into food for a long time.

Yakgwa dessert after the meal

After filling up on our individual full meal sets, we polished off a sweet yakgwa (Korean honey cookie) for dessert! That was how we wrapped up the meal.
