Gangnam Korean BBQ near Sinnonhyeon Station with no smoke smell
In short
Sansol Sinnonhyeon is a Korean BBQ restaurant a 3-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul, serving 1+ grade aged pork. A couple ordered kkodeulsal (chewy pork jowl) for one, samgyeopsal (pork belly) for one, and yukhoe bibimbap, with staff grilling the meat from start to finish, and even at full capacity for over an hour, the downdraft ventilation kept their clothes and hair completely free of meat smell. Went to Gangnam with my husband after a while and had samgyeopsal and kkodeulsal at a BBQ place near Sinnonhyeon Station! The pork quality was great, staff grilled everything for us, and there's a downdraft ventilation setup so no meat smell sticks to you at all! The place was actually full, and even after over an hour there, not a single trace of meat smell. Especially in fall and winter when clothes get thicker, that smell-clinging worry is real, so it was nice to eat cleanly here.
Location and atmosphere of Sansol near Sinnonhyeon Station

Sansol is located right in the back alley behind Sinnonhyeon Station, about a 3-minute walk away!

It's a BBQ place but with such a fancy interior haha. The seats are divided into booth-like partitions so you can eat comfortably. Looking further in, there are also private rooms available! Looks great for gatherings or company dinners too. And! Evenings are always busy, so I recommend making a reservation :)

Entrance aging chamber and 1+ grade aged meat
At the entrance you can see the aging chamber. Sansol says they only use and age 1+ grade meat. That's why the pork belly quality is so good, letting you enjoy tender meat through the first-sear → resting → finishing stages.

Downdraft ventilation that keeps meat smell off your clothes
And here's the best part! Thanks to the downdraft ventilation, no meat smell lingers on your clothes. Honestly, BBQ places have leveled up so much that delicious spots are everywhere these days, but this is the first place I've seen that cares this much about the smell too. Once winter coats or spring/fall jackets come out, meat smell becomes even more of a concern, so having ventilation this good was great :) We actually ate for over an hour while the place was fully packed, and not a single trace of smell was on our clothes or hair!
Menu

They have pork cuts like samgyeopsal, pork neck, kkodeulsal, plus beef too! Ordering the set menu makes it a bit cheaper.

Sides included minari soy-marinated yukhoe, mountain deodeok root grilled, steamed egg, stews, yukhoe bibimbap, and more. We ordered 2 servings of meat and a yukhoe bibimbap!
Taste review

The banchan came out neatly arranged. Sauces included herring roe, wasabi, Maldon salt, ssamjang, and even scallion-beef sauce. Seasoned vegetables, nabak kimchi, pickled yeolmu, yuja mu saengchae, and aged kimchi came as basic banchan, great to pair with the meat. Especially the yuja mu saengchae (yuzu-radish salad) — first time seeing that at a BBQ place, unique and delicious~

We ordered kkodeulsal for one and samgyeopsal for one! The samgyeopsal came pre-seared. The bright red meat looked super high quality at first glance.

Staff grilled the meat from start to finish. I personally love kkodeulsal, and I'm happy more places are selling it these days haha.

The fat-to-meat ratio was just right too. Samgyeopsal and kkodeulsal cooking up nicely~~

I tried the first bite dipped in Maldon salt, and there wasn't a hint of off-flavor — really great quality. Kkodeulsal has an amazing chewy texture, and samgyeopsal has just the right fat-to-meat ratio so it's nice and savory. It also pairs well with the yuja mu saengchae, and they grill the aged kimchi side dish for you too, which is great to eat together with the meat.
Finishing with yukhoe bibimbap

We finished with yukhoe bibimbap! The amount of yukhoe (raw beef) was pretty generous. It was a sweeter style of yukhoe bibimbap, which I think would go even better with doenjang stew. Ordering this along with the meat for two of us was just the right amount~!
If you're looking for a samgyeopsal spot near Sinnonhyeon Station that doesn't leave meat smell on you, definitely check out Sansol! The side dishes come out neatly and the meat quality is great, so I recommend it 💛
