At the tail end of summer, when energy starts running low and you crave a proper boost — today I visited a legendary spot that will completely restore your stamina.
This place shatters every preconception you might have about old-school unlimited eel restaurants — the usual worries about hygiene or fishy smell. Fresh Japonica eel and pork belly, prepped every morning, enjoyed in a genuinely pleasant space. Here's my real review of Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Siheung Baegot Direct Branch, a top Baegot eel spot ^^

A no-smell, pleasant restaurant that even the regulars swear by

Eel restaurants often make you hesitate because even in a spacious place, the floor can be slippery or there's that distinctive fishy smell that hits you. But Songnim Bok Jangeo, which has earned its spot on Baegot's must-visit list, was different. The place was kept as clean as any upscale restaurant, and the ventilation was so good I never had to worry about smell ^^

The tables were spaced out generously too, so it was really comfortable to chat with company while eating. Looking around, I noticed a lot of groups of men dining together. Watching them silently focus on devouring eel or having a drink of soju alongside it, I was instantly convinced — this had to be a genuinely great Baegot eel spot, no words needed.
How the self-serve bar works and tips for grilling Japonica eel

After sitting down and pressing the bell to order, a kind staff member gave first-time guests a very detailed explanation of how things work ^^ The basic side dishes, the main eel, and the meat are all freely available from the self-serve bar in the center of the restaurant. Staff kept checking and restocking generously, and wiped down the area regularly, which was great for hygiene too.

This place has great value for money, but in exchange you grill the eel yourself. There was a helpful guide posted on the wall for grilling it well, so it was easy to follow along. At first the charcoal heat was so strong I burned it a little, but hey, it's an all-you-can-eat Siheung eel restaurant, so there's no need to feel self-conscious ^^

By the second batch I had gotten the hang of it and managed to grill it to a perfect golden color — crispy outside, moist inside. Since the eel comes fresh daily from Yangman Farm, the flesh was plump and chewy.
Eel's perfect partner, green onion kimchi, and surprisingly good pork belly

The eel alone was already great, but the meat quality at the self-serve bar exceeded expectations too. The thick pork belly, grilled together over the same charcoal as the eel, picked up a smoky aroma that made it so savory and delicious — I refilled it just as many times as the eel ^^

And here's the hidden cheat code that perfectly cuts through what could otherwise be a greasy meal: green onion kimchi. Pairing well-fermented green onion kimchi with the charcoal-grilled eel or pork belly wipes out the richness completely and refreshes your palate. Thanks to this endless, perfect combo, this becomes a Baegot restaurant recommendation you won't regret.
The receipt review bokbunja wine event and a late-summer health boost

And there's an amazing perk at Songnim Bok Jangeo you absolutely shouldn't miss! Take part in the receipt review event and you get a free bottle of 'bokbunja' (black raspberry) wine worth a whopping ₩9,000 ^^ After a sip of the moderately sweet and slightly bitter bokbunja wine, a mysterious magic happened — the rich eel started calling my name endlessly again.

Thanks to this endless loop of a bite of eel and a sip of bokbunja wine, I finished off a proper late-summer health boost. Being able to enjoy this quality of fresh eel unlimited at this price was truly moving. I'd call this the best unlimited eel destination in Siheung, perfectly covering everything from a hearty meal to a drinking session!

What about parking?
Parking stress is a no-go for group dinners or gatherings! Songnim Bok Jangeo has a huge underground parking lot in the building that can hold over 100 cars. Even beginner drivers can park comfortably, and you get a generous 2 hours of free parking with payment, so you can relax and enjoy your meal ^^
