I visited HADO (하도), a restaurant in Suwon that everyone seems to be talking about for course meals.

HADO aims to create a carefully drawn flavor experience on a solid foundation, so I arrived with huge expectations. I was so happy with everything—the atmosphere, flavors, and detailed course composition—that I really wanted to introduce it to anyone looking for a great Haenggung-dong date spot to visit with someone special. 💕
HADO's space and open-kitchen atmosphere
HADO is a dining space with the lovely meaning of “underdrawing.”

An atmospheric space with the open kitchen in full view 🖤
The atmosphere was so captivating the moment I stepped inside. The calm, refined black-toned interior immediately made me feel properly looked after!

What especially impressed me was the live open kitchen spread out in front of the dachi (bar counter) seats. Through the glass in front of us, I could clearly watch the chefs carefully plate and cook each dish, so even the wait for the food never had a chance to feel dull.

The lighting was cozy too, and I immediately thought this would be such a perfect Suwon date spot for an anniversary! 📸
HADO's summer seasonal course
The summer seasonal course I tried reinterpreted ingredients associated with the summer season in a modern way, with every course item thoughtfully composed. From the presentation to the flavors, it was full of the care you would expect from a Suwon restaurant known for course dining.

Starter

Salad · Korean melon and scallop salad

A plump scallop, browned and moist, came with crisp slices of seasonal Korean melon and a pretty edible flower as a finishing touch. 🌸 When I speared it with my fork and ate it in one bite, the savory char from the grilled scallop, the gentle sweetness of the melon, and the bright sauce came together into a distinctive, addictive flavor!
Main · Chogyetang-style cold pasta

This was absolutely perfect for enjoying on a hot day! 🍜🧊 Delicate angel-hair pasta was neatly topped with shredded chicken breast and thread chili. Scooping up the noodles with the cold broth, I found the savory, refreshing broth layered with the sharp aroma of mustard and nutty perilla seeds—it felt like the heat disappeared in an instant.
Soup · Corn soup

Real corn kernels, oil, and deliciously fried popcorn floated atop the warm, nutty corn soup. Taking a generous spoonful, I loved the contrast between its softly savory flavor and the crunching popcorn and popping corn kernels. It was so fun and appealing. 💛
Protein

Pre-dessert · Peach mousse cake

This mousse cake was served as a palate cleanser before the main dessert! As I gently scooped up a spoonful, I found crumble hidden inside the mousse. 🍑🍰 The smooth mousse and sweet-tart omija (Korean five-flavor berry) jelly worked together to refresh my palate so cleanly.
Dessert · Tomato granita

For the final course, a tomato granita arrived in a cocktail glass! 🍅 Fine, bright-red icy crystals were topped with fresh cherry tomato pieces and apple mint, and just looking at it felt refreshing. With one spoonful, the cool, crunchy ice crystals gave way to tomato's own sweet, clean flavor, making it the perfect finish to such an appealing meal.
