Sinnonhyeon study café with a salmon sandwich and laptops: Selecto

These days it's pretty common to bring a laptop to a café to study or get work done. My husband and I both had things to do, so around 2pm we headed to Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch 24 Auto Brew Cafe to get some work done and grab lunch too.

I was just planning to grab coffee and leave, but the place turned out to be surprisingly good for working, so we ended up staying quite a while.

Open 24 hours, so no watching the clock at Selecto Coffee

One great thing about Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon is that it's open 24 hours, so you're not really restricted by time when you go.

Especially when you bring a laptop to study or work, it can feel awkward to stay long if the café is too cramped or the seats are uncomfortable — but I didn't really feel that pressure here.

The spacing between seats inside was quite wide, and the seating was varied too. There were spots for groups to sit comfortably and chat, as well as separate solo seats for studying or working on a laptop, so you could pick a seat depending on your purpose.

Outdoor seats at the Sinnonhyeon café were a bonus

Besides indoor seating, there are also outdoor seats. On a nice day, it would be pretty great to spend some time out there with a coffee.

We each had our own things to study that day, so we settled indoors, and it was quite satisfying to spread out our laptops and work. Since there were other people around also doing café-study, we didn't feel self-conscious about doing our own thing either.

Sometimes when you pull out a laptop at a café you start wondering if it's okay to stay this long — but here, that pressure was much lighter.

Why the Geisha americano: low acidity, nutty finish

I ordered the Geisha americano. At Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon you can choose your beans to match your taste, and since I like coffee that's low in acidity and nutty, I picked the Geisha.

If you have strong coffee preferences, being able to pick your own beans is a nice touch.

My husband ordered his usual, iced chamomile. When we go to cafés together, it's often the case that one of us gets coffee and the other gets tea, so having a varied menu meant we could each pick what we wanted.

Hungry mid-laptop session: ordering the salmon sandwich

As time passed while we studied, we both slowly got hungry. So while looking for something simple to eat for lunch, we ordered a salmon sandwich.

There was actually a deciding reason we picked the salmon sandwich — we saw a staff member prepping the salmon by hand right there!

Watching the salmon get prepped, both my husband and I thought,

"Oh? The salmon must be fresh."

and that settled it — we went straight for the salmon sandwich haha. I didn't expect much since it's a sandwich from a café, but the salmon turned out to be really plump.

Since we picked it after seeing it prepped fresh, the salmon felt quite fresh to us. Best of all, the salmon wasn't just a thin sliver — it was packed in nice and plump.

It was good as a simple bite when we got hungry after just drinking coffee, and just right for when a full lunch feels like too much but you still want to eat something. Thanks to the sandwich, we solved our hunger while studying and could get back to focusing on our work.

Dessert choices that make a long stay easy

Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon also has a fairly wide variety of desserts, so it seemed like a good spot to find a light bite to go with your coffee. We had the salmon sandwich this time so we skipped dessert, but I'd like to try some other desserts on a future visit.

With 24-hour hours and varied seating, I thought this was a café that's great to use when you need to stay a long time for studying or work.

Worth it for laptop work near Sinnonhyeon Station?

Overall, Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon was a great café for studying or working. Being open 24 hours is a plus, and I especially liked how the seats were spaced widely apart with solo seats separated from group seating.

Even visiting with my husband, each of us doing our own thing, we could spend time without disturbing each other. And the atmosphere didn't make us feel self-conscious about bringing laptops to study or work — that was the part I liked most.

It's not just a coffee café — with sandwiches and desserts available too, it was easy to stay a long time and handle a meal as well. If you're looking for a 24-hour café, a good study café, or a good spot for laptop work near Sinnonhyeon, it might be worth a visit. I think I'll come back the next time I have something to do in Sinnonhyeon :)
