Three-floor Sokcho café with a bread-warming station: Cafe Neorae

I was trying to decide where to grab coffee during my Sokcho trip, and this time I ended up at Cafe Neorae. Honestly, while the menu matters when picking a café, these days I care more about finding a place where I can sit comfortably with a good drink and enjoy a great view.

In that sense, Cafe Neorae checked all my boxes. Above all, you get a full view of Seoraksan through floor-to-ceiling windows! The place was also way bigger than I expected, with all kinds of spaces inside, making it a great spot to unwind during a Sokcho trip.

Where is Cafe Neorae in Sokcho, and is there parking?

Cafe Neorae is located at 114 Wonam Haksapyeong-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, on the 2nd floor. Parking was fairly ample, so it was fine to visit by car too.

It's also positioned well for grabbing a meal nearby and then heading straight to the café, so it works nicely as part of a Sokcho travel itinerary!

Cafe Neorae uses space from the 2nd all the way to the 4th floor, and I was surprised by how large it was when I first walked in. There's both an elevator and stairs, so you can get around however's easiest. If you're looking for a large café in Sokcho, the space itself is sure to impress.

Heading up to the 2nd floor, you first reach the ordering area, and even here the scenery pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows — the moment I walked in, the view just opened right up. It felt less like a plain coffee spot and more like a rest stop on a trip.

There are plenty of pretty cafés in Sokcho, but I think Cafe Neorae's biggest strength is being able to look out at Seoraksan from such a spacious room. Heading up to the 3rd floor, the seating comes in all kinds of arrangements too — from tables good for 2-3 people to spots for larger groups, making it a solid choice for families or friends.

Sometimes a large café ends up feeling empty or just spacious without being comfortable, but here the seating is broken up into different types, so it's easy to pick whatever vibe you want. When you're traveling and constantly on the move, having a café where you can sit comfortably and rest matters more than you'd think. The moment I sat down, I already felt the travel fatigue melting away haha.

And if you come to Cafe Neorae, this is a must-see: the Seoraksan view! The mountain fills your view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and I imagine it looks even prettier on a clear day.

You could sip your drink and not really need to do anything else — just watching the scenery outside makes the time fly. Personally, this view was the thing I liked most about Cafe Neorae. When you're traveling, you end up hitting a lot of restaurants and sights, but having a moment in between to just sit and stare blankly at the scenery turned out to be way nicer than I expected.

"Ah, this is what traveling's about" — that's exactly what I felt in that moment, haha.

You can see Seoraksan from indoor seats on both the 2nd and 3rd floors, so having that wide range of seat choices was another plus. If you're looking for a Sokcho café and a good view matters to you, I'd genuinely recommend this place!

Cafe Neorae drinks, bakery and the bread-warming station

Cafe Neorae also had a wide variety of menu options. Beyond coffee, there were smoothies and various other drinks, so even someone who doesn't drink coffee shouldn't have trouble picking something when visiting with others. We each ordered whatever we felt like.

There was also a good range of bread available. We'd already eaten before coming, so we didn't have much, but it was nice to have simple bakery items to enjoy with our drinks. In particular, there was a separate space set up so you could warm your bread. That kind of detail turned out to be surprisingly convenient.

Bread just tastes so much better slightly warmed rather than eaten straight away. We got our drinks and bread ready and sat down. Drinking the beverage was nice, but honestly that day I kept finding myself just staring out at the scenery instead haha. Sipping a good drink while looking out at Seoraksan was healing in itself.

Is Cafe Neorae a good place to rest during a Sokcho trip?

Cafe Neorae felt like a place better suited for people who want to linger a bit rather than just grab a quick coffee and leave. The space is large, the seating is varied, and above all, you get to look out at Seoraksan.

Especially if you've been hopping between restaurants during your Sokcho trip and need somewhere to pause for a bit, a café like this really hits the spot. Personally, the menu matters, but when a café has this kind of space and view, even just one drink makes the trip feel complete.

Cafe Neorae in Sokcho was a pretty satisfying place for someone who just wanted to relax while looking out at Seoraksan! (It'll probably be even prettier once the fall foliage comes in!!) With its spacious interior, varied seating, the Seoraksan scenery through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and a solid range of drinks and bakery items, it seems like a comfortable spot to enjoy with family, friends, or a partner.

Above all, if you're looking for a Seoraksan-view café in Sokcho, it's worth stopping by at least once! If you want a large café to rest at leisurely during a Sokcho trip, I recommend Cafe Neorae :)
