Guro Station jokbal restaurant with bean sprout soup: The Jokbal

I've been craving collagen-packed, soft warm jokbal (boiled pork trotters) like crazy lately. I wanted a proper spot where I could wrap up a huge bite and blast away all my stress, so the second I clocked out I went straight to hunt down a Sindorim restaurant haha 😋

It's a place I'd always wanted to try whenever I passed through Guro — a treasure of a spot where the chef, formerly of the Josun Hotel, cooks the jokbal himself and sells it the same day it's boiled. Here's my honest review of The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch, a Guro Station favorite!

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch: hours and parking

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch operates Monday–Saturday 11:00–22:30 (break time 15:00–16:00), and Sunday 11:00–21:30. It's a same-day-boiled, same-day-sold jokbal spot.

For parking, you can use the basement 1 lot of Sindorim Prugio 3rd, the apartment complex the restaurant sits in, and they'll give you a free parking pass for up to 2.5 hours.

Add them as a KakaoTalk Plus Friend and you'll get a free drink or a bottle of alcohol, and if you save the page or write a review on Naver, you get a free small jaengban makguksu — don't sleep on these little perks haha 😉 On takeout orders, there's ₩2,000 off plus a free drink.

Where is The Jokbal, between Guro and Sindorim stations?

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch sits right on the road between Guro Station and Sindorim Station, so it's very accessible, and it's a great route to combine with a stop at Sindorim D-Cube City right across the street!

The moment I stepped inside, the clean, tidy, pleasant interior stood out. The soft wood interior and lighting made it feel cozy and comfortable too.

Menu and table kiosk ordering: half-and-half jokbal 49,000 won, makguksu 9,000 won

Looking over the menu at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch, it's neatly laid out from basic jokbal to charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal, bossam (boiled pork wraps), and combo sets!

I loved being able to order easily through the smart kiosk at each table. We wanted to enjoy two flavors at once, so we ordered the half-and-half jokbal (₩49,000) with its perfect side match, jaengban makguksu (small, ₩9,000)!

What comes with the jokbal: banchan and spicy bean sprout soup

Right after ordering, a generous basic spread arrived quickly. Fresh wrap vegetables (lettuce, perilla leaves, chili peppers), tangy chive salad, chewy dried radish salad, and raw garlic — the whole setup was clearly built to go with jokbal, and it made me smile just looking at it.

The warm kongnamul (bean sprout) soup, bubbling away in a metal pot, was a real standout! The broth was properly spicy and refreshing, and it was great for settling my stomach before diving into the main jokbal.

How the half-and-half jokbal tastes: same-day warm trotters and flame-grilled spicy jokbal

And finally, today's highlight — the half-and-half jokbal! A glossy, moist regular jokbal and a charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal with that fiery smoky charcoal aroma came piled thick on the plate, and I couldn't help but gasp.

The moment I took a bite, I could tell — this is the texture that makes this Sindorim Station spot special! No gamey smell at all, soft and tender, with skin that was properly chewy and meat that melted in my mouth. The 'Josun Hotel chef's secret recipe' title on the sign wasn't just for show.

Lay a thick piece of Sindorim jokbal on a fresh perilla leaf or lettuce leaf, add a bit of the fresh chive salad, some pungent garlic, and a touch of ssamjang (dipping sauce), and wrap it up into one big bite full-cheeked... it genuinely feels like a whole week's worth of fatigue melts away!

The charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal comes topped with cheongyang chili peppers, bursting with a subtle smoky flavor and addictive spiciness — not overwhelmingly hot, just sweet and spicy enough to keep pulling you back in, so alternating bites between the two was the perfect combo.

Jaengban makguksu with jokbal: does the combination work?

The soulmate side dish you can't skip with jokbal, jaengban makguksu, also came out piled high! Fresh cabbage, lettuce, and perilla leaves plus chewy buckwheat noodles, all mixed with a sweet-and-sour, spicy sauce — rolled up with a piece of jokbal meat, it was an absolutely perfect combination in every bite 😋

Verdict: is The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch worth an after-work dinner?

• As you'd expect from domestic jokbal boiled the same day, the texture was easily the standout — chewy, moist, with no gamey smell at all. The half-and-half combo of clean, deeply flavorful regular jokbal and savory, smoky charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal, plus the tangy makguksu on the side, made this a perfect Guro Station find.
• The table kiosk ordering system was convenient, and the perks like the Naver review event and KakaoTalk Plus Friend benefits were a nice bonus.
• Sitting right between Sindorim and Guro stations, it's very accessible, and with free parking for up to 2.5 hours in the basement lot, it's also an easy visit by car.
