Sindorim pork trotter restaurant for family dinner: The Jokbal

In short

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is a jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotters) restaurant on the first floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio apartment shops, between Sindorim and Guro Stations in Guro, Seoul. Dining with three family members, this writer ordered the half-and-half front leg jokbal (regular plus spicy fire jokbal), which came with a hot bowl of cabbage doenjang soup and a complimentary taste of naengchae jokbal (cold seasoned jokbal). Freshly boiled and still steaming, the trotters at The Jokbal stayed moist to the last bite with no gamey smell, making it a solid pick for family meals, group dinners, or lunch near Guro Station.

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is a place I used to order from a lot even before I got married. It's actually my dad's favorite jokbal spot! This visit was sponsored, but honestly, whenever my family gets together we order from here all the time haha.

Where is The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch, and is there parking?

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch sits between Sindorim Station and Guro Station, on the first floor of Sindorim 3-cha Prugio Apartment's commercial building, and parking is available. It had been a while since I'd been to my parents' place, so we all went for dinner at The Jokbal together. True to its reputation as a Guro Station favorite, the place was packed on a weekend evening.

Naver reservations and delivery orders are both possible, of course, so getting it packed to eat at home is also a great option. There's a hotel nearby too, so it's a spot I'd recommend for wedding after-parties or group work dinners!

Weekend evening mood and group tables at The Jokbal

All the 4-person tables were full, so we barely managed to grab a seat! The dining room was busy, but it seemed like delivery and takeout orders were the real flood — orders kept coming in nonstop haha. Definitely lives up to its Guro Station favorite status 👍🏻 There are quite a few tables further inside too, so it looks great for group gatherings!

What's on the menu at The Jokbal, including lunch specials

Here's the menu! You can choose front or hind leg, and mix-and-match spicy jokbal, naengchae jokbal, and more in half-and-half combos! There's also a lunch special menu. The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch could easily double as a solid lunch spot near Sindorim.

Besides jokbal, there are dishes like steamed egg, sundubu jjigae, and buckwheat noodles if you want something else. The lunch menu especially had a lot of variety — bossam set, jeyuk ssambap — all rice-thief dishes through and through 🤎

The cabbage doenjang soup served with every order

First, a piping hot cabbage doenjang soup arrives in a stone bowl as a default side, haha. One bowl each for everyone. It had a nice sharp kick and tasted great. Sometimes I think they serve bean sprout soup instead as the default. The doenjang soup we got on our visit was seasoned just right.

Korean fresh trotters, boiled and sold the same day

The Jokbal uses domestic raw trotters and follows a boil-same-day, sell-same-day principle! That's why it's so good... I've ordered here with my own money dozens of times. Even while we were eating, orders kept pouring in, so freshly boiled trotters kept appearing, piping hot.

The half-and-half front leg jokbal we ordered

Finally, the half-and-half jokbal arrived! Front leg, as requested — half regular jokbal, half spicy. Front leg jokbal is the tastiest... so chewy. Look at that shine~~ Let's eat, let's eat!

A glossy plate of half-and-half front leg jokbal

A hearty spread arrives — chewy collagen bits balanced with the meat, plus the spicy seasoned jokbal alongside. The jokbal was freshly boiled and still steaming. You could sense the softness just from looking (I wanted to capture the steam rising but my camera couldn't catch it).

First, I tried the regular jokbal with a bit of dried radish strips and chive salad, nom nom nom! Freshly boiled and moist, it was really warm. Definitely tastes best eaten fresh in the restaurant rather than delivered...

No gamey smell, with a balanced meat-to-fat ratio

Next, on to wrapping it in lettuce! Not a trace of gamey smell, and the jokbal wasn't overly sweet either — this is why I always trust The Jokbal. It tasted even better after not having it for a while. The ratio of lean meat to fat was really well balanced, so it wasn't greasy at all.

Jokbal wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves

The wrap greens included lettuce, perilla leaves, and alba cabbage, so you could wrap it however you liked. Alba cabbage has been especially good lately. The dried radish strips weren't too salty or sweet either, and paired well with the jokbal.

The free naengchae jokbal that arrived as a service dish

This is the naengchae jokbal that came out as a free taste! The sharp wasabi flavor was nice and not too strong. I don't usually like naengchae jokbal, but this one was sweet and tangy and delicious! The cucumber mixed in was a nice kick too.

How spicy is the fire jokbal at The Jokbal?

Next up, let's try the fire jokbal. It's definitely spicy!!! A step spicier than Shin Ramyun. There was also rice cake mixed in, which I loved haha. Ordering it half-and-half with the regular jokbal meant we never got tired of it, and the four of us polished off a whole plate!

Still not done eating jokbal! Haha. Wrapped in alba cabbage, it's incredibly savory. Moist all the way through — The Jokbal is the best. Spent quality time with family after a while and filled up on delicious jokbal 👍🏻🤎

If you're looking for a spot for group gatherings or a solid lunch place, I highly recommend The Jokbal, already famous as a Guro Station favorite!! A true gem that only uses domestic raw trotters boiled and sold the same day. Ate well again this time, yahoo.
