Lately I've been craving a proper, hearty meal, and while looking around I found Sotbap Hansang. It's in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, and the place was way bigger than I expected — my first thought was 'oh?' haha.

Where is Sotbap Hansang, and what are its hours and parking?

Free parking lot in front of Sotbap Hansang

Sotbap Hansang's address is 68-1 Sangdeok-ro, Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open from 10 AM to 9 PM. There's a free parking lot on site, so it was easy to visit by car.

Personally, parking matters a surprising amount at places like this… if you get stressed about parking before you even eat, the whole outing starts off on the wrong foot. Here, there was none of that worry, which I really liked.

A spacious, clean hall built for family meals

Once inside, Sotbap Hansang was much bigger and cleaner than I'd pictured. The tables were spaced well and there were larger tables too, so it looked ideal for a family visit. It seemed like a place you could comfortably bring your parents to as well!

Baby chairs were on hand too, so families with young kids should be able to eat comfortably.

There's also a self-service corner on one side, and I really liked this bit haha. Not just side dishes — porridge and soup were on hand too, so you could take as much as you needed. Little touches like this tend to boost how satisfied I feel overall. When hunting for a good Korean restaurant in Yongin, I guess you end up paying attention to conveniences like this, not just the food itself.

Why I chose the soy-marinated female crab set

Looking at the menu at Sotbap Hansang, there was quite a variety — an assorted seafood marinade set, the female crab soy-marinated crab set, a braised beef short rib set, a dried yellow croaker set, and more. After a good while deciding, I figured I should go all in that day, so I ordered the female crab soy-marinated crab set.

After a short wait, side dishes started coming out one by one, and there were more of them than I expected, so the table filled up fast. Everything was plated neatly and looked great too.

And finally, the female crab soy-marinated crab (ganjang gejang)! Just looking at it made my mouth water haha. Peering into the crab shell, it was packed full of roe, which really got my expectations up.

Full spread with soy-marinated crab, grilled flounder, and sotbap

It wasn't just the crab jang either — a grilled flounder came alongside it, plus sotbap (hot pot rice), so it really felt like a full, proper spread.

Roe-packed soy-marinated female crab, a true rice thief

Crab meat and roe piled on rice

I started with the crab jang, and it was savory-salty without being overpowering, pairing really well with rice. What I loved most was how packed the crab was with roe. Pulling out the meat to pile on rice, eating the roe alongside… I kept reaching for more haha. Soy-marinated crab can taste great for the first few bites and then get tiresome fast, but oddly enough, this one never got old no matter how much I ate.

The sotbap was beyond expectations too. Maybe because it was freshly cooked, the rice itself was so good that topping it with crab jang was basically game over haha. Mixing in bites of the grilled flounder along the way, I demolished a whole bowl of rice in no time. This kind of hearty spread is exactly what comes to mind when I think of a good restaurant in Cheoin-gu, Yongin.

Coffee at the self-serve café right after the meal

After finishing my meal at Sotbap Hansang, I discovered an unmanned café that left quite an impression too. The interior was way nicer than I expected, and I thought 'wait, what is this place?' haha. Drink prices were reasonable too, so if you're reluctant to head straight home after eating, it's a nice spot to sit down for a coffee. Having both the meal and the café in one place was surprisingly convenient.

Is Sotbap Hansang in Yongin worth a visit?

Having visited in person, I think this would be a great choice for anyone looking for a good Korean restaurant in Yongin for a family meal out. The spacious hall and easy parking made it comfortable to visit as a group, and the food was hearty enough to leave everyone full. Personally, the female crab soy-marinated crab set I had that day was the most memorable. A roe-packed crab jang paired with sotbap — honestly, that combo is impossible to resist. If you like sotbap and soy-marinated crab, it's worth remembering as a good spot in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, and a solid Korean restaurant option overall.

Next time I'd like to try the braised beef short rib set or the dried yellow croaker set. With so many menu options, I'll probably be torn again on my next visit haha. Still, on this visit I had a very satisfying meal. I left full and happy! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Sotbap Hansang is worth adding to your list haha.
