Yongin Korean restaurant with a kids' menu: Sotbap Hansang

For my birthday this time, I went on a family trip to Yongin with the kids! A full 2 nights, 3 days. The very first place we stopped as we started the trip was Sotbap Hansang, a well-known spot in Cheoin-gu, Yongin.

Since we were traveling with the kids this time, we wanted Korean food the whole family could eat comfortably rather than anything too spicy or heavy, so we picked this place for our first meal since it serves sotbap (pot rice) with a variety of side dishes.

Where is Sotbap Hansang, and is it easy with kids?

Sotbap Hansang is located at 68-1 Sangdeok-ro, Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and it's open daily from 10:00 to 21:00.

With group seating, kids' chairs, a kids' menu, and a self-serve bar, it was a convenient place to visit as a family. Highly recommend it as a Korean restaurant in Yongin!

A filling set meal with a view of the countryside

I loved that we could see the natural scenery outside while eating inside. Having a plate of sotbap in such a relaxed atmosphere right at the start of the trip really felt like the trip had properly begun!

The sotbap comes with a whole spread of side dishes, and overall everything felt neatly and carefully prepared.

I especially liked the barley-yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) and japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) — dishes we don't really get to eat much at home, haha.

Eating the sotbap with the side dishes one by one, I ended up eating more rice than usual, and it felt like we were off to a properly nourishing start with the first meal of the trip.

What the self-serve side dish bar holds

Personally, what I liked most was the self-serve bar. Being able to help ourselves to as much of the carefully made side dishes as we wanted was great.

When eating with kids, there are times when the adults want more side dishes but it feels awkward to order more while also tending to the kids. With the self-serve bar, we could easily grab more of whatever was running low, which turned out to be quite practical for a family meal out.

Our kids of course ordered the pork cutlet. At Korean set-meal restaurants, there isn't always a suitable option for kids, so having a dedicated kids' menu made things much easier as a parent.

As soon as the pork cutlet arrived, the kids dug right in. Thanks to that, the adults could enjoy the sotbap and side dishes at leisure while the kids happily ate their cutlet, and the whole family finished the meal satisfied.

The dish that won me over: sweet pumpkin porridge

And surprisingly, the dish that really won me over was the sweet pumpkin porridge (danhobak-juk)!

We could grab it from the self-serve bar, and it wasn't just sweet — it had that rich, distinct sweet pumpkin flavor, which made it really tasty.

I don't usually go for sweet pumpkin porridge, but this one was so good I kept going back for more. Best of all, even my two-year-old ate it up happily!

Was Sotbap Hansang a good first meal of a family trip?

Overall, I thought this was a great Korean restaurant in Yongin to visit with kids — you get to enjoy sotbap with a variety of side dishes, and there's pork cutlet and kids' chairs ready for the little ones.

Eating neatly prepared side dishes and warm sotbap while looking out at the natural scenery gave a different kind of satisfaction than filling up on heavy, spicy food. I ordered the jjuosam set — I'd actually been craving something spicy, and it turned out to be exactly the dish I wanted!

It was the first meal of our birthday family trip, and after eating a bit of everything from the full spread, I honestly felt like my whole body had gotten a little healthier. Ha_ha.

If you're planning a Yongin trip with kids and looking for a good restaurant in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, or a Korean restaurant the whole family can enjoy together, I'd say put Sotbap Hansang on your list. Seeing my son so happy while eating made me really proud :)

Our family had the kids eat pork cutlet, the adults eat sotbap and side dishes, and everyone shared the sweet pumpkin porridge — a great start to our Yongin trip. The parking lot is spacious, so you shouldn't have to worry about parking, unless you come during the busy lunch hour ^^

The salad dressing was so good I went back for refills, so here's a final photo of the salad I kept eating, haha.

The owner was really kind too, so it was a pleasant meal all around :)

Sotbap Hansang also runs an unmanned café inside the restaurant, which is great for waiting or for a quick cup of tea after the meal.

After finishing the meal, we let the kids walk it off a bit in the garden before heading out, hehe. It's a great restaurant for making family memories, taking photos and all.

A hearty start to our Yongin trip — highly recommend!
