Beef omakase dining bar near Suwon City Hall Station: Woowine

In short

Woowine is a premium hanwoo (Korean beef) omakase dining bar near Suwon City Hall Station in Ingye-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. For a fiancé's birthday the writer ordered the Woowine Selection Set 450g (185,000 won) and the 1++ hanwoo daepageti (green onion spaghetti, 7,000 won), and the course ran from gomtang (beef bone soup) through four appetizers and four cuts of hanwoo to pear ice cream, with the owner grilling each cut at the table to match the diners' pace. For a birthday or anniversary date where atmosphere matters as much as the beef, Woowine was a strong choice.

Atmosphere at Woowine's hanwoo omakase course

Dad's treat for my future son-in-law's birthday! haha ❤️ Went out for beef with my fiancé for the first time in a while, to this beef restaurant — Woowine. Since it was his birthday, we wanted somewhere with a nice atmosphere and a bit special, and here you can enjoy several cuts of hanwoo (Korean beef) like a course. If you're looking for a hanwoo omakase in Suwon, I recommend this place :)

Woowine near Suwon City Hall Station: a dining bar, not a typical Korean BBQ house

Exterior of Woowine, which looks like a dining bar

Located near Suwon City Hall Station, Woowine has an exterior that feels more like a dining bar than your typical Korean BBQ spot.

Open the door and you'll see the aging chamber where the hanwoo is stored. Ha, I really felt myself drooling as I walked in 👏🏻

The interior is centered around a long bar table, with a large media wall and dim lighting adding to the calm, upscale feel overall! You can pick any seat you like, and they pour you water as soon as you sit down!

Gomtang, four appetizers and a birthday photo setup at Woowine

Before the main hanwoo comes out, we started with warm gomtang (beef bone soup). A great way to warm up the stomach before starting! The rich broth made me want to just mix in rice — absolutely amazing 👏🏻👏🏻

And then the appetizers came out looking so pretty ✨

Tuna tataki / yukhoe (beef tartare) with wasabi mayo / gamtae (seaweed) rolls with black sesame sauce / acacia honey pajeon (scallion pancake). Four dishes came together for us to taste one bite at a time, and each bite really woke up the palate. Since it was a birthday, they even set the table with a photo we'd sent ahead of time — such a nice little touch haha

Four hanwoo cuts in the Woowine Selection Set: tenderloin, sirloin, rib meat, chuck flap tail

And then the main event, the hanwoo, arrives 🤍 On this day the Woowine Selection Set was made up of four cuts total: tenderloin, sirloin, rib meat, and chuck flap tail.

Four cuts of hanwoo and mushrooms on a wooden plate

It comes on a wooden plate with mushrooms, and honestly the marbling alone was so beautiful... 🤍 As we were finishing the appetizers, the owner tastefully started grilling the meat.

Each cut had a different texture and nuttiness, so it was fun to compare them one by one. They were tasty with just a touch of salt or wasabi, and even cleaner paired with shredded scallions. The owner grilled everything slowly, matching our pace 😊

While the owner grilled the meat himself, we naturally ended up chatting with him about our wedding preparations haha. He was so friendly and really good at leading the conversation, and made everything so fun that the atmosphere stayed great the whole time we were eating! Thanks to him, we had a comfortable and enjoyable meal while chatting away :)

The side dishes included baek-kimchi (white kimchi), spicy radish salad, and shredded scallions, along with salt, wasabi, and wholegrain mustard!

With four different cuts of hanwoo, mixing in the side dishes in between kept things from feeling heavy, and I enjoyed it deliciously all the way through.

Woowine's signature side: 1++ hanwoo daepageti (green onion spaghetti), 7,000 won

You really can't resist carbs after eating meat, right ㅜㅜㅜ So we added Woowine's signature side dish, the 1++ hanwoo jangpaguetti (scallion spaghetti with hanwoo, ₩7,000).

A plate of hanwoo jangpaguetti with fragrant scallion oil

I ordered it because it looked popular in blog reviews, and my fiancé scraped the bowl clean, haha. The scallion oil is seriously amazing. Genuinely delicious, highly recommend!

Ending the course with Woowine's homemade pear ice cream

The last dessert was homemade pear ice cream 🍐 It had a cool, clean pear flavor that was the perfect palate cleanser after all that meat.

Is Woowine worth it for an anniversary date in Ingye-dong, Suwon?

From the gomtang to the welcome dish, four kinds of hanwoo, jangpaguetti, and finally the pear ice cream, Woowine's lineup was really satisfying. Above all, the atmosphere is clearly different from a typical Korean BBQ restaurant, so if you're looking for a hanwoo omakase in Suwon, a good restaurant near Suwon City Hall Station, or a nice-atmosphere date spot in Ingye-dong for a birthday or anniversary, this is a great place to visit :)
