I went to Haenggung-dong with a friend after a while for a little outing. After finishing a ring-making workshop together, we wanted a nice dinner nearby, so we headed to Nonchalant Lounge. The warm, moody atmosphere and every dish we ordered were so good that I finally understood why it's such a popular restaurant near Suwon Hwaseong Fortress :) It's a relaxed spot for brunch during the day and turns into an atmospheric Haenggung-dong wine bar at night — great for a date or a get-together with friends.
Where is Nonchalant Lounge in Suwon?
Nonchalant Lounge is located at 896 Jeongjo-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's close to both Janganmun Gate and the Suwon Hwaseong fortress wall walk, so it's a good spot to stop for a meal after slowly exploring Haenggung-dong. There are lots of pretty cafés, accessory shops and workshops nearby, so it works well as a plan like ours — a workshop first, or a walk along Suwon Hwaseong followed by dinner :)

The interior was so clean and stylish right from the entrance that I was excited before even stepping inside ✨
Inside Nonchalant Lounge: a modern, calm dining room

Modern, moody posters and plants everywhere 🖼️ 🌿 It really felt like stepping into a small European lounge.

It was fun just looking around the space, and overall it felt calm and comfortable.

A beam projector on the wall played visuals along with music, and it was so romantic 🤎 I kept glancing over even while eating — watch a bit, eat a bit, watch a bit again. Haven't felt that kind of leisurely moment in a long time.

The tables were spaced generously, with comfy sofa seats, group tables, and two-seaters all available, so we could eat comfortably without feeling crowded.

As the sun went down and the lighting turned soft, that distinct Haenggung-dong wine bar mood really came alive. A place you just want to keep sitting in.. 🥹
Thin pizza and chicken alfredo cream pasta: what we ordered
- Crispy thin pizza ₩19,000
- Chicken alfredo cream pasta ₩18,000
- Homemade meatballs with French baguette ₩23,000
- Lemonade ₩6,000

What we ordered was the crispy thin pizza, chicken alfredo cream pasta, and homemade meatballs with French baguette.

Ordering was simple through the QR code set up at the table.

The crispy thin pizza had a thin, crunchy crust that was easy to eat. Fresh arugula, jamón, almond slices, cheese — really loaded! We both blurted out how good it was the moment we took a bite, haha

The chicken alfredo cream pasta was a Tuumba-style pasta made with wide, chewy noodles. The thick, savory cream sauce soaked well into the noodles, and the thick pieces of chicken paired well with the pasta! If you like cream pasta, this is a solid, reliable choice haha 👍

The homemade meatballs with French baguette came out as big, juicy meatballs served with baguette. The juicy handmade meatballs with rich tomato sauce were so good that we ended up dipping the pizza in it too. 🤤 Great as a meal, but I bet it'd also be amazing as a wine pairing hahaha

The refreshing, zesty lemonade! It went perfectly with everything we ordered and disappeared in no time. 🍹
A Haenggung-dong evening after a craft workshop
You could feel the care in every dish, and the seasoning was just right — I want to come back to Nonchalant Lounge again! Haenggung-dong has so many pretty workshops and cafés tucked into its alleys, so a workshop, a stroll, and dinner made for a great date course. Nonchalant Lounge in particular nails both atmosphere and taste, making it the perfect way to wrap up a day out in Haenggung-dong!!! If you're looking for a good restaurant after visiting Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, or an atmospheric Haenggung-dong brunch or wine bar, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Nonchalant Lounge :)
