Isu Station katsu don restaurant with a dinosaur kids' tray: Kosi

I was looking for a place to eat with the kids around Isu, and since they wanted tonkatsu, I ended up at Kosi Isu Branch — let me introduce it!

They had a wide range of tonkatsu, udon and rice bowl options, which made it easy to pick something for everyone when visiting as a family.

You can order via the tableside kiosk! And don't forget the Naver receipt review event drink, right? Haha. We ended up ordering three dishes to share that day — bukkake udon, house-made katsu don (mild), and cheese tonkatsu.

We each ordered something different and shared, and since every dish had its own style it was fun trying a bit of everything! If you're looking for tonkatsu or udon near Isu Station, this spot is worth a stop.

Asking for kids' tableware at Kosi: a dinosaur tray, tongs, scissors and jelly

When we asked Kosi Isu Branch for kids' tableware, they also gave us tongs, scissors, and Haribo jelly ❤️ The dinosaur meal tray was so cute, and our three kids got so excited about the jelly, haha. I told them the jelly was for whoever finished their meal well, and all three of them ate really well, haha. Thank you to the thoughtful owner 🙏🏻

Bukkake udon at Kosi Isu Branch: springy, chewy noodles

The first dish we tried was bukkake udon. It's a dish where you eat cold, chewy udon noodles drizzled with sauce, so it paired really well with the tonkatsu. The noodles held their bounce without going mushy, giving it a really satisfying chew, and the sauce matched the noodles well enough that it never felt heavy, even to the last bite.

When you're eating fried food like tonkatsu, it can start to feel a bit greasy partway through, but pairing it with the bukkake udon really reset the palate!!

Especially if you like noodle dishes, this was a great one to order alongside everything else at Kosi Isu Branch!

House-made katsu don (mild): the dish the three kids ate best

Second up was the mild-flavor house-made katsu don. It's a rice bowl where you get tonkatsu, sauce, and rice all together, so it made for a hearty meal.

We ordered the mild version so the kids could eat it too. They could enjoy the crispy tonkatsu together with rice, which made it relatively easy for the kids to eat, and it'd also work well for anyone who finds strongly seasoned dishes a bit much!

It has a different appeal from eating tonkatsu on its own, so if you need a proper rice dish, I'd recommend the house-made katsu don.

When picking a family dinner spot in Isu, it matters whether there's something the kids can eat too, right? On that front, the wide menu range made me think this place would work well for families looking for a good restaurant in Isu.

Cheese tonkatsu, the popular pick at Kosi Isu Branch

And of course, the cheese tonkatsu! Whenever I say we're going out for tonkatsu, my kids always pick cheese tonkatsu without fail, haha.

The combo of crispy breading and soft cheese in this cheese tonkatsu is honestly hard to mess up, haha. Compared to plain tonkatsu, the added cheese made it a bit softer and nuttier, and it was a dish the kids loved.

If you especially like cheese, this is the one I'd recommend first out of the three! Crispy on the outside and moist inside thanks to the cheese, the texture was anything but one-note!

What I liked about Kosi Isu Branch was that it's not just one type of tonkatsu — you can choose from udon, rice bowls, and more. When you visit with several people like we did and order one bukkake udon, one katsu don, one cheese tonkatsu and share them, it's so much better than sticking to just one dish.

Whether someone loves tonkatsu or loves noodles, everyone could order to their own taste, making it a good spot to visit with friends or family! It stuck with me as one of the solid go-to restaurants near Isu Station.
