Did you know there's a Blue Ribbon-selected restaurant in Hagik-dong? And one that's been chosen five years running, no less.

Not a chain — a place you can only eat at here, which made me even more curious. It happened to be a day my family had planned to have dinner together, so we headed to Dongchuwon Bulgogi in Hagik-dong, Incheon.

When picking a place to eat with family, the atmosphere, parking, and seating matter just as much as the taste of the food — and this meal checked every box.

There are even seats set up for solo dining, so I'd recommend this place if you're eating near the courthouse.
A Blue Ribbon find in Hagik-dong

The signature dishes are old-style bulgogi and hansu boshin gukbap. That day we ordered the two-person old-style bulgogi set and the hansu boshin gukbap.

Ordering was simple — you check the menu and order through a tablet set up at the table.

Looking through the menu, we noticed the old-style bulgogi set even came with dessert naengmyeon and omija tea, so we ordered the set.

For a family meal, I think it's a pretty great deal that even covers dessert at the end!
A mountain of bulgogi that grabbed our attention first

Soon the old-style bulgogi arrived. The first thing that caught my eye was the meat piled up like a mountain.

It came with a variety of vegetables — sweet pumpkin, bok choy, several kinds of mushrooms — and best of all, they were fresh.

A refreshing salad was included too, which was a nice way to whet the appetite before digging into the bulgogi properly. And what a nice touch — the spoons and chopsticks came individually wrapped for hygiene.
A staff member first poured in the broth, and then we cooked the meat gradually as we ate. Watching the bulgogi bubble away, we finally took our first bite.
Both my mom and I marveled almost at the same time at how soft the meat was. Bulgogi can easily turn tough while cooking, but the meat we had that day had an impressively tender texture.

Grilling it lightly on the pan, then dipping it in the broth underneath shabu-shabu style, gave it a completely different charm!

The mustard leaf pickles were simply the GOAT. They cut through the richness so well that I couldn't stop eating them.
A special DIY bulgogi burger bite
Order bulgogi on a weekday evening or weekend and you also get morning buns — not just to eat with the bulgogi, but so you can build your own bulgogi burger. Tucking bulgogi between the buns for a bite worked better than I expected.

It's clearly the kind of dish kids would love. I'm the resident kid at this restaurant, apparently.
True to its reputation as one of the best bulgogi restaurants in Incheon, it's not just about the taste of the meat — families get to enjoy this kind of fun together while eating.
A hearty bowl of hansu boshin gukbap

The hansu boshin gukbap we ordered alongside was quite satisfying too. With its thick broth generously packed with meat, a single bowl felt filling on its own. It was also good to share alongside the bulgogi, and a good choice when you want a simple, satisfying meal. Above all, it had a flavor of its own, different from the typical gukbap (Korean soup with rice) I've had before — the kind of taste that might suddenly come to mind later.
Why it also works well as a family gathering spot

The interior was clean overall and had a comfortable atmosphere. Extra side dishes were freely available at a self-serve corner, so we could take as much as we needed. Even the water was memorable — instead of plain bottled water, it was hutgae (Hovenia dulcis) tea.

There was also group seating, which looked great for dining with several people. In fact, after our meal, my dad started eyeing the place as a potential spot for a year-end gathering. If you're looking for a family gathering spot in Incheon and care about seating and atmosphere as much as the food, this is worth keeping in mind.
A filling dinner right down to dessert

The dessert naengmyeon included in the set was bigger than expected too. I thought a 'dessert naengmyeon' would just be a light palate cleanser, but it came in a fairly generous portion — after the bulgogi and the gukbap, I was genuinely full.
We'd saved some bulgogi to eat with the naengmyeon, and sure enough, that combination was just right. We finished it all off with omija tea.
For parking, you can use the Seonjeong parking lot across the street from the restaurant. It's free for 1.5 hours if you order a hot-pot style dish, or 30 minutes for a regular meal — worth keeping in mind if you're visiting by car.
Overall, it was a great place to eat comfortably with family. I was curious about the five straight years on the Blue Ribbon list, and after visiting in person, everything from the food to the atmosphere to the family-friendly setup left a strong impression.

If you're looking for restaurants in Hagik-dong and want to try some special bulgogi, this is a place worth visiting at least once. It's worth considering for a family gathering or a private room restaurant in Incheon, and I'd also recommend it to anyone searching for the best bulgogi restaurant in Incheon. I'd love to try other menu items at Dongchuwon Bulgogi next time.

📝 Final thoughts
It was a surprise to find a Blue Ribbon restaurant that's been standing in Hagik-dong this long. We had a comfortable meal with family, enjoyed the mountain-sized old-style bulgogi, and even got to try the burger and dessert naengmyeon.
This isn't the kind of place you visit once and forget — it's the kind that naturally comes to mind the next time you're planning a meal. That's the memory Dongchuwon Bulgogi left with me.
