Spicy bibim milmyeon with adjustable broth heat at Busan Station

In short

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is a milmyeon (chewy cold wheat noodle) and pork soup restaurant on the 2nd floor of the building to the right of Busan Station, next to Starbucks. Arriving on a business trip, the writer ordered a small bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) for 8,000 won and hand-made dumplings for 7,000 won, pouring in broth to tone down the spice and packing up leftover dumplings solo. A solid, convenient spot for a Busan-style meal when there's time before a train.

I came to Busan on a business trip and got off at the station wondering what to eat for lunch — heard there was a great milmyeon (chewy cold wheat noodle) spot near Busan Station, so I went to check out Yeongdong Milmyeon. Here's my story of this Busan Station milmyeon favorite 🍜

Location and exterior of Yeongdong Milmyeon at Busan Station

Yeongdong Milmyeon is on the 2nd floor of the building to the right as you exit Busan Station, so it was easy to find.

Entrance to Yeongdong Milmyeon next to a Starbucks store

It's right next to a Starbucks. Since it's just in front of the station, it's a great spot to stop by when you have some time before your train.

What was the interior like?

Walking in, the space was spacious and clean, with a real popular-restaurant vibe. It was a tidy place to grab a meal right after arriving in Busan.

Ordering bibim milmyeon and hand-made dumplings

Table set with bibim milmyeon and hand-made dumplings

I ordered bibim milmyeon and hand-made dumplings. They came out together as shown above, which I liked. This is my first meal in Busan, so I'm excited.

A bowl of bibim milmyeon topped with spicy seasoning

The bibim milmyeon looked like it had that spicy seasoning flavor with good noodle texture. After snapping a photo to post on social media, I cut the noodles in half with scissors before really digging in. (Don't cut too much — just one cut in half is perfect for tasting. Without cutting, the noodles don't mix well, so one cut is just right.) Then I mixed the seasoning well with the noodles — the visual was great. Looks spicy and delicious, right?

Chewy bibim milmyeon well mixed with seasoning

The bright red seasoning mixed well with the chewy milmyeon noodles, and one bite in, the spicy-sweet sauce had soaked into the noodles giving off a rich, savory flavor.

Hand-made dumplings as a side

I was going to just have the milmyeon, but wanted a side dish too, so I ordered the hand-made dumplings.

Biting into a steaming dumpling, the thick dumpling skin was packed with filling and had a satisfying chewy bite. Pairing the mild dumplings between bites of spicy bibim milmyeon was a great combo. I'd debated whether to order the dumplings, but it was a good choice. If you come with two people, one order of dumplings is a good side; but eating alone with both milmyeon and dumplings, I got full and packed the rest to go. Busan means milmyeon, and my first meal here was a success.

Bibim milmyeon with added broth to tone down the spice

The bibim milmyeon was a bit spicy for me, but when it's too spicy, you can just pour in a little broth to tone down the heat. The cucumber and sliced boiled pork on top were crisp and mild, balancing things out so I didn't get tired of it. I only ordered one bibim milmyeon, but between adding broth, eating it with the meat, and with the cucumber, there was fun in tasting it in different ways.

If you're planning to eat near Busan Station, milmyeon — the dish that comes to mind when you think of Busan — is a great choice. A great start to my Busan trip. With spicy bibim milmyeon and filling hand-made dumplings, it's a good place to grab a representative Busan meal right in front of the station.

Since I take the KTX, I end up stopping by either when arriving in Busan or before heading back to Seoul, and this is a simple yet delicious option for those times. "Thanks for the great meal!" Now that I've had milmyeon on the way down, I should try the soup at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap on my way back up to Seoul.
