In short
Jeongseong Katsu, Cheomdan Branch is a Japanese-style cutlet restaurant in Gwangsan, Gwangju. I tried the Triple Assorted Katsu Set and Pork Jowl Katsu Set, both 14,900 won, with a crisp draft beer. Verdict: a great pick when you want to switch between different kinds of katsu.

The day I visited Jeongseong Katsu, Cheomdan Branch (정성카츠 첨단점) in Ssangam-dong, Gwangju~ >_<

Choosing a Katsu Menu in Ssangam-dong
This is a restaurant with such a wide variety of katsu that choosing what to order becomes a happy dilemma. It is located near Cheomdanjungang-ro, so it is easy to find and access—and the building parking makes parking convenient too.
When there is nowhere to park before going out for a meal, that is quietly stressful too,, so not having to worry about parking before eating is such a huge plus, right!? There was a standing menu board out front, so I could get a rough idea of what to eat before going in. Though I was already excited at the thought of pork cutlet before I even entered haha.

A Warm, Comfortable Dining Room
Once inside, the interior was neat overall and had a warm feel :-) With its wood tones, it felt more comfortable for a meal than a restaurant that is too cold or stiff. There were several tables, so it looked fine for dining alone, and it would be nice for a meal with a group as well.

There were already people there for a meal when I visited, and I thought it would be a good lunch spot for office workers around Cheomdan too. The tables were not squeezed too closely together, so it was easy to sit and eat comfortably! We came as a pair and properly enjoyed our date >_<

How to Enjoy Katsu and What Is on the Menu
There was even a guide on how to enjoy Jeongseong Katsu, so I used it as a reference! Try dipping it in pink salt too~ or dip it in the spicy sauce or Jeongseong sauce, whichever suits your taste—it is so good.
Jeongseong Katsu also runs a receipt-review event, so visitors may want to check the details in the restaurant. You get a half serving of udon or naengmomil (cold buckwheat noodles) for writing a review, and it would be a shame to pass up an event like that, right~? Be sure to join in ^_^
There were more kinds of katsu than I expected. Along with loin katsu, hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet), and cheese katsu, there were assorted katsu and pork jowl katsu for anyone wanting several different things. It was not just pork cutlets either: there were noodles, rice bowls, and other dishes, so people dining together could choose according to their own tastes!
Especially when you cannot decide, I recommend ordering assorted katsu like I did, since you can taste a little of many menu items. After going back and forth, we ordered the Triple Assorted Katsu Set for ₩14,900 and the Pork Jowl Katsu Set for ₩14,900 that day.

How Was the Triple Assorted Katsu Set?
After a short wait, the food finally came out! +_+ The presentation was no joke right from the start,, it looked incredibly plentiful. Everything looked so crisp and delicious that I wanted to dig in right away.

First up is the Triple Assorted Katsu Set, ₩14,900. Since it lets you try several kinds of katsu in one go, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to taste a variety of things. It came with loin katsu, hire katsu, cheese katsu, and more, so I could try them all~ >_< It looked satisfyingly full with several types on one plate, and I liked it even more because every single one was really tasty,, haha.

I tried the pork cutlet first, and the coating was out-of-this-world crispy!!! +_+ Each type of katsu had a slightly different texture, which made choosing bites fun haha. Personally, I liked the soft texture of hire katsu, and the cheese katsu was pure nutty richness with the cheese inside. The loin katsu had that classic appeal you think of with pork cutlet, and it was so good dipped in sauce.

Sauces, pickles, kimchi, clear soup, and salad came as standard sides. The salad dressing was tangy too, the kind of flavor that keeps you going back for more :-)

You cannot leave out draft beer with crispy katsu, right,, I ordered one 500cc glass, and it was so cold and refreshing that it paired wonderfully with the katsu :-) I almost ordered another, but held myself back haha. If it had been evening, I think I would have had a few more, hehe.

The katsu itself was already so well seasoned and moist that it was delicious plain, but dipping it into the sauce made it another special treat haha. As the sauce lightly soaked into that crisp coating~ it became even better with rice, I would say? Pork cutlet really is at its best with rice ^_^

Can you see that cheese stretch,,? Wow, perhaps because the cheese inside was such good quality, its flavor was no joke. From the fun of watching it stretch~ to the pleasure of eating that rich cheese katsu, it was satisfying in every way. With such a varied set for the 10,000-won range, it feels like great value +_+

The Distinctive Pork Jowl Katsu Set
Another menu item I was looking forward to that day was the Pork Jowl Katsu Set, ₩14,900. The idea of enjoying pork jowl like a pork cutlet was a little unfamiliar, so I was really curious what it would taste like haha. Even its appearance felt a little different from ordinary pork cutlet!? It came with sauce underneath and a generous pile of scallions on top~

Once I took a bite, the texture of the pork jowl itself went so well with the crisp coating!? It felt different from a typical loin pork cutlet, making it a menu item worth choosing when you want to try a distinctive katsu haha. It was truly unusual.
If you want to order one thing that is a little different from the rest, definitely choose the pork jowl katsu. I think I liked having it with the Triple Assorted Katsu because the two were clearly different >_< Ordering this way made it fun to alternate between the two dishes.
The Fun of Choosing Different Kinds of Katsu
What I felt after visiting Jeongseong Katsu, Cheomdan Branch was that it is fun to choose from classic pork cutlet through to many types of katsu +_+ If you are looking for Japanese-style pork cutlet in Ssangam-dong, Gwangju, I recommend visiting soon. It is a good place to stop by for lunch, and it would work nicely as a gathering spot in the evening too.
