Skirt steak lunch at Ola Poke Gangnam, a poke restaurant in Gangnam

In short

Ola Poke Gangnam is a poke and salad restaurant in the underground shopping arcade by Gangnam Station in Seoul, and it is one of the few where you can pick skirt steak as your main. Pairing the skirt steak with the fire chicken octopus salad kept the meal interesting to the last bite, since the spicy kick worked like a Korean side dish. Ola Poke Gangnam feels more like a solid office worker's lunch than a light poke bowl.

Where to eat a filling lunch in Gangnam 🥩

Finding a place in Gangnam that's tasty but also actually filling is oddly hard, right? Poke and salads especially — healthy, sure, but I'm sometimes hungry again two hours later, so I hesitate to count them as a full meal haha.

But the skirt steak I had at Ola Poke Gangnam was a different story. It wasn't a light salad-only feel — I got to eat meat as the main, and by the end I was surprisingly full...! Pairing it with the fire chicken octopus salad also gave a pretty good balance of flavors.

Ola Poke Gangnam: exterior and interior

Ola Poke Gangnam has a casual vibe, easy to drop into for solo dining or lunch in Gangnam. Inside, it's not heavy or formal — more clean and comfortable, good for a quick meal.

It's perfect for days when you want steak but don't feel like committing to a full restaurant, or when you're hunting for an office lunch spot. It's also fine to eat here alone, so it could work as a solo-dining spot in Gangnam.

One thing that stuck with me at Ola Poke Gangnam was the self-service corner. I expected just water or napkins, but they even had hair ties and mouthwash ready — what sense 👏

If you have long hair, you're always a little on edge about it while eating haha. It's really awkward when you suddenly need a hair tie and don't have one, so I liked that they thought of this detail.

Especially after eating something with a strong smell like skirt steak or fire chicken octopus, being able to rinse with mouthwash before heading out is genuinely useful for people with plans or work right after lunch. It felt like they'd really thought about what customers actually need, not just the food — and that small detail bumped up my opinion of Ola Poke Gangnam even more 💚 Worth recommending as an office lunch spot.

🥩 Is the skirt steak filling for a poke restaurant?

My main order was the skirt steak! The first thought after eating was, "Oh... this is more filling than I expected?" haha. If you go in expecting a light portion just because it's a poke place, it might be a nice reversal.

Getting to eat skirt steak as the main gave a strong sense of having a proper meal, more than just a bowl of salad. It's a good pick for days you want meat but don't want to go too heavy. I was quite full by the end, so I was satisfied portion-wise too :)

🌶️ Fire chicken octopus salad: the combo that works

And then the fire chicken octopus salad I had alongside. At first I wondered if eating fire chicken octopus together with steak would be a bit much? But it turned out to be the kick of the meal haha.

It's octopus tossed with the spicy flavor of fire chicken, served salad-style, and it's perfect to eat between bites of steak. Put simply, it works as the perfect side dish for the steak. One bite of meat, one bite of fire chicken octopus, and the spicy hit resets your palate all over again 🌶️

Having the octopus in there also changed up the texture instead of just eating meat over and over, which I liked. Personally, I preferred ordering the skirt steak and fire chicken octopus salad together rather than eating each separately.

Who told me to eat it this way? No one. But I tried it, and it works haha.

Ola Poke Gangnam as an office worker's lunch

Ola Poke Gangnam felt less like a strictly light poke place and more like somewhere you can eat as heartily as you want, in your own way. In particular, I got genuinely full from the skirt steak, and being able to pair in the fire chicken octopus salad like a side dish kept me from getting bored all the way through.

Can't give up meat + still want to eat salad — if these two feelings fight in you every day... a peace treaty can be signed here 🤝 haha.

If you're looking for a solo dining spot in Gangnam or a solid office lunch, this is worth a visit. Next time I'd order the skirt steak again and pair it with the fire chicken octopus once more! 🌶️🥩
