I've been coming here since my kid was in kindergarten, so it's an easy spot for me to get to~ I was going to stop by Olive Young and pack a castella to go as a kids' snack for Gurae-dong haha.

How to eat the castella and how long it keeps

Here's how to enjoy Jinsim Castella at its best! Eat it with whipped cream and fruit and it's like cake, or pair it with Greek yogurt and fruit, or milk and coffee — all delicious. Since it's a no-preservative food, it keeps in the fridge for 6 days and in the freezer for a month. Because there are no preservatives, it's best to eat it as soon as possible, and if you want it warm, 39 seconds in the microwave does the trick.

You can grab as many wet wipes, forks, and knives as you need yourself~ Take what you'll need to eat the castella. I even snapped a selfie while waiting lol. Unboxing the chocolate chip castella: the cross-section

Got home and opened up the chocolate castella right away. The moment I opened the box, a subtle chocolate scent spread out, and that sweet smell made me want to dig in fast. Chocolate chips studded throughout, and it's such a soft, fluffy castella — my kid's favorite snack, hehe.

Cut into a slice and the crumb was tight-textured and moist. It really melts moist and soft right away! That signature castella fluffiness is all there, and the moistness lasts a long time. I sliced through it with a knife to cut a piece just the right size for my kid.

Castella is delicious with milk and also pairs perfectly with coffee. These days there are so many flavor varieties too, which makes it fun to eat.

Soft on the inside, chocolate chips studded on the outside — a clean, enjoyable flavor. It brought back memories of eating so much castella as a kid. I feed it to my own kid now haha.

And the whipped cream I ordered separately, haha. Spreading on as much as I wanted was absolutely delicious, so I forgot about my diet for a while and just went for it~ Soft, sweet, and so good.
