Since it's a market food find, I went looking for something more gift-appropriate than the usual market snacks and ended up at Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul. It's mostly a takeout spot rather than a sit-down café, so it seemed like a good place to grab a box after browsing the market, or to pick up a souvenir before leaving Seoul. This time I went all in and packed a 6-piece gift set.

With a name like that, I assumed it was all choco pies, but the menu had way more variety than expected. Alongside their signature Ssuk's choco pie, there are cookies, scones, cheesecake, and even milk tea, so there's something for different tastes. The choco pies themselves come in several flavors too — Geomundo Sea-Wind Mugwort, Sea-Wind Mugwort Injeolmi (sweet rice cake), Nonsan Strawberry, Udo Peanut, and Real Choco.

I thought this lineup works well for anyone looking for a gift-worthy dessert rather than a straightforward market snack.

The sets come in 3-piece and 6-piece options, and the 6-piece Ssuk's set I packed cost ₩24,800. Buying as a set is cheaper than buying individually! Since you can pack all six at once, I'd personally recommend the 6-piece if you're going in with a gift in mind from the start 👼

How long do the choco pies keep?

They keep for 8 days refrigerated or 30 days frozen, and if frozen, you can thaw them in the fridge for about 30 minutes before eating. On hot days, it's better to refrigerate them as soon as possible rather than carrying them around for a long time.

Gwangju Real Choco

The first one chocolate lovers will reach for. It's dusted with cacao powder on the outside, and there are chocolate chips mixed into the cream too.

It's not just plain sweet chocolate cream — there's a slightly bitter cacao edge plus the crunch of chocolate chips throughout, and that's the standout point!! Since mugwort flavor can be hit or miss for some people, throwing in a Real Choco is a safe bet if you're unsure about a gift set.

Nonsan Strawberry

For anyone who isn't into mugwort or red bean, this one is probably the safest choice.

Rather than just strawberry-flavored cream, it's made with actual Nonsan strawberry purée, so a bright, tangy strawberry note comes through alongside the sweetness. When the choco pie sheet and fresh cream start to feel a bit heavy, the strawberry cuts through with something refreshing — definitely the flavor with the most different vibe among the six.

Geomundo Sea-Wind Mugwort

I tried the basic mugwort flavor first, and the mugwort aroma was gentler than I expected — not overpoweringly strong or bitter.

Soft fresh cream sits between fluffy mugwort sheets, softening the mugwort's distinctive aroma.

Sea-Wind Mugwort Injeolmi

This one has actual injeolmi rice cake mixed into the injeolmi cream, so behind the mugwort aroma comes a strong nutty soybean-powder flavor, plus a chewy texture that makes it much more fun than a plain cream choco pie. It feels a bit like mugwort rice cake and injeolmi turned into a dessert — I'd especially recommend it if you have an old-fashioned sweet tooth.

Sea-Wind Mugwort Whole Red Bean

Mugwort and red bean really are a combo that's hard to mess up, haha. The domestic red beans aren't mashed too finely, so you can still feel whole beans in the soft cream. I think this one would also make a great gift for parents who love red bean.
