Today I'm sharing a review of a life-changing meat restaurant I really enjoyed! I hate eating meat in front of a hot grill in summer, but now that the weather's turned nice and cool, I ran straight there for samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) haha. I went to Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch, a Guwol-dong favorite with great vibes and great value.

Where is Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch, and is there parking?

Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch is near Lotte Department Store Incheon in Guwol-dong, so it's easy to reach by bus or subway. It's also close to Rodeo Street, so if you're out in the downtown area and get hungry, a short walk brings you to the retro-style sign — and you'll know right away, ah, this is the place!

Inside Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch: a retro pocha for work dinners and dates

Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch has a clearly retro atmosphere with old posters and menu boards, and it's clean with plenty of tables, making it look great for a work dinner too.

With the lighting and the warmth of the charcoal, it had that pocha (Korean street-style pub) feel that makes you crave soju. There were spots inside the chairs to store your jacket so it wouldn't absorb the smell, and I noticed a lot of couples on dates too!

What we ordered: the 600g pork platter and 2,500-won soybean stew

At Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch we ordered the pork platter (600g mix) for ₩38,900 and soybean stew for ₩2,500.

We agonized over the menu since there was so much we wanted to try, so we ended up ordering the pork platter — which lets you taste several cuts at once — along with the soybean stew. The pork platter includes pork belly, pork neck, dwitgogi (a lesser-known back-of-neck cut), jowl meat, skirt meat, and pork skin.

The basic side dishes came out first, with fermented anchovy sauce and lettuce, and the self-serve bar next to it was clean and had a good variety of options.

How the pork tastes cooked slowly over charcoal

Pork belly grilling over charcoal
Meat cooking slowly and evenly over charcoal

Grilling over charcoal doesn't cook the meat super fast — it cooks it slowly and evenly, so while we chatted and waited, it ended up perfectly grilled. True to a Guwol-dong samgyeopsal favorite, even the basic pork belly was juicy and delicious, packed with flavor.

Every cut had incredible savory depth, and the texture was chewy yet tender — loved it haha.

A bowl of spicy soybean stew

When it started feeling a bit greasy, one spicy bite of the soybean stew cleaned the palate right up — the combination worked so well together.

The pork skin was chewy too, and dipping it in the roasted bean powder made it nutty and addictive — I kept reaching for more. Between that and the lettuce wraps, even though 600g is a lot, it was so delicious that the two of us ate every bit of it and felt completely full! It was the kind of meal that made you want a bowl of rice to finish it off.

Final verdict: meat and soju in Guwol-dong

I'm really satisfied with my visit to Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch, a Guwol-dong samgyeopsal favorite! From the retro atmosphere to the great value, the meat tasted even better grilled over charcoal. The combination of pork and the spicy, savory soybean stew made for such a happy meal. If you're looking for a work dinner spot or a date spot in Guwol-dong, or if you're craving meat and soju in the area, I'd say this place is well worth a visit 😋 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
