Jamsil agujjim restaurant in Seoul: 48,000 won for three, Ttoksuni

In short

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Branch is a Korean restaurant near Olympic Park on Wiryeseong-daero in Songpa, Seoul, serving agujjim (spicy braised angler fish with bean sprouts). The tables were already packed before noon, and three of us shared a medium Ttoksuni Agujjim at 48,000 won on the default spice level and left completely full. The bean sprouts stayed crunchy, the angler fish was plump, and the self-bar side dishes plus plum tea and rice puffs by the door made Ttoksuni Agujjim an easy lunch or group-dinner pick in Jamsil.

A while ago I was out near Jamsil for a lunch work trip and stumbled on a really good spot! With the weather and everything, I was craving something spicy but filling — Korean food, basically.

So I searched around and found this place — I already love seafood and spicy Korean food, so I went in with high expectations, and I left even more satisfied than I hoped. Here's my honest review of 'Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch.'

A Jamsil agujjim restaurant packed before lunch even starts

I arrived at Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch a little earlier than lunchtime, but the place was already packed! I thought to myself, 'Wait, is this actually a real Jamsil hot spot?' and got secretly excited. There's always a reason a place is this busy, haha.

The interior was super clean and pleasant, which made the meal so much more enjoyable. A tidy interior somehow makes the food feel more hygienic too. It's spacious and clean, so I thought it'd be a great spot for a team dinner or gathering later! They also have a lunch special menu.

Ttoksuni Agujjim medium, 48,000 won: tidy side dishes and a self-bar

We ordered the Ttoksuni Agujjim (medium) size. (₩48,000)

Neatly arranged side dishes at the agujjim restaurant

Once you order, the basic side dishes get set up, and every single one came out neat and tidy. They weren't overpowering, and went perfectly with the main dish, so I kept reaching for more.

What I especially loved was the self-bar set up on one side of the restaurant! Being able to refill side dishes freely without feeling self-conscious was really satisfying. Getting to help ourselves to more of the tasty side dishes made the meal feel even more filling.

How spicy is the default level, and how does the agujjim taste?

A little while later, the Ttoksuni Agujjim we'd been waiting for finally arrived! Just the visual alone made my mouth water.

The Ttoksuni Agujjim medium size served on the table
Visual of the spicy seasoned agujjim

We picked the default spice level (about as spicy as Shin Ramyun), and it was mild enough for spice wimps to enjoy comfortably, while still having that pleasant, lingering kick... so good.

Picking up bean sprouts and angler fish meat with chopsticks

The bean sprouts were crunchy and the angler fish meat was plump, and it was a total party in my mouth. I don't know how many times I shouted 'wow, this is so good' while eating. The portion was generous too, so the three of us left completely stuffed!

We originally planned to finish with the dessert fried rice too, but there was just so much food... fried rice got skipped. (Weak, I know...)

Plum tea and rice puffs: dessert on the way out

After we finished off the agujjim and were fully stuffed, we found a little bit of happiness on the way out! At the entrance of Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch, there was plum tea and rice puffs set out.

After eating something spicy, a glass of cool, sweet plum tea felt so refreshing and settled my stomach perfectly. Grabbing a few crunchy rice puffs on the way out made it the perfect ending...

Is Ttoksuni Agujjim worth it near Jamsil and Olympic Park?

I only stopped by by chance during a lunch work trip, but I think I'll be back whenever I'm around Jamsil again!
