Lake-view café in Yangpyeong with patbingsu and salt bread: Dotorigol
In short
Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe is a pet-friendly garden café on a mountain road in Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi, looking straight out at a lake. On a rainy afternoon the signature old-style patbingsu (shaved ice with red bean, 15,900 won), mentaiko salt bread (5,500 won) and a deep black Americano (6,000 won) were enjoyed from a second-floor seat behind floor-to-ceiling windows. The misty lake and the punchy salty mentaiko salt bread make Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe a stop worth building a Yangpyeong drive around.

On a softly rainy afternoon, after a delicious lunch at Iri Garden in Hoengseong, I drove to Yangpyeong to find a cozy forest retreat and pet-friendly café: Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe.
Where is Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe, and is there parking?
Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe sits at 151-1 Gopdani-gil, Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and is open daily from 10:00 to 18:30 (last order 18:00). From the Samga intersection in Danwol-myeon, pass Stay Nature Camping and continue up the mountain road a bit further, and you'll find the café marked by a large rock painted with 'Cafe. Dotorigol' in red, topped with a squirrel figure holding a WELCOME sign.
There's ample parking space around the café, so parking is easy.
The forest and lake setting outside the café
The building of Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe is wrapped in dense forest and pine-covered mountains, giving it the cozy feeling of arriving at a mountain lodge.

The modern floor-to-ceiling windows, the brown-toned main building, and the outdoor deck space blend together to give an immediately pleasant, spacious impression.

An open lake view stretches out in front of the yard, and being a rainy day, the thin mist over the mountains and the raindrops falling on the lake made for a really atmospheric scene.

A statue facing the lakeside and cute outdoor table benches add to the charm.
The lawn garden is thoughtfully equipped with everything from mini electric cars and snack corners that kids will love, to a separate pet-companion zone in a container space where dogs can safely enjoy the terrace.
Inside the first floor: bakery counter and gift corner
The first floor of Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe is wrapped in tall, cool floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a full view of the green mountains and lake outside. On a rainy day, the raindrops beaded on the glass combined with the greenery outside create an even more tranquil, sentimental mood.
The first floor has comfortable sofa seating along with little things to enjoy scattered throughout.

The counter, finished in deep green tile, is neatly equipped with a digital menu board, a dessert showcase, and a snack display; combined with the green view out back, the glamorous lighting, and a velvet sofa, it creates a cozy, old-fashioned atmosphere.

The bakery display is full of desserts to suit every taste — gamtae orandae (seaweed rice snack), Dubai-style chocolate cookies, scones, red bean bread, and walnut cakes.

The counter showcase neatly displays cakes, tarts, and bottled drinks, while off to the side there's a tidy snack stand and a stand of instant ramen packets for enjoying outdoors.

There's also a little gift corner with cute character stationery, slime, and keyrings that kids will love.

From knee blankets for chilly guests to a bookshelf for kids and a self-service corner, you can feel the owner's thoughtful touch in every little detail.
There's even a receipt-style photo booth set up so you can snap a memory of your visit.
Second-floor lake-view seats for watching the water and the hills
Following the softly lit staircase up to the second floor of Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe, you're greeted by a massive floor-to-ceiling window rising with the gable roofline. Sofa seating is arranged facing the lake, perfect for sitting quietly and doing some 'water gazing' and 'mountain gazing' over the green ridgelines and lake.

Inside, a big teddy bear, a rotating bookshelf, and cute little frames give the space a warm, cozy hideout feel, and a large wooden bookshelf packed with books on all kinds of subjects also catches the eye.
If the first floor is bright, lively, and highly convenient, the second floor is a great healing spot for relaxed conversation while taking in the scenery outside.
By the entrance window, a bar table with warm, moody lighting sits alongside clean, separate men's and women's restrooms and indoor plants, making it a comfortable place to linger.
What we ordered at Dotorigol and what it cost
We ordered the café's signature old-style patbingsu (₩15,900), a hot Americano (₩6,000), and the owner's recommended salt bread (₩5,500).

There's a kiosk in front of the counter that lets you browse the full drink and dessert menu at a glance and order comfortably.

There's also an ongoing event where writing a Naver receipt review gets you a free 100ml cold brew concentrate made by a national barista. You can choose the bean depending on your taste: Deep Black (nutty), Yellow (fruity), or Colombia (decaf).

Old-style patbingsu topped with bear-shaped ice cream
While taking in the tranquil garden and lake scenery in the rain outside the window, our order arrived on a neat tray.

The old-style patbingsu topped with a cute bear-face-shaped ice cream is the signature treat here, delighting both the eyes and the palate. Around the bear, chewy injeolmi rice cake and mugwort rice cake, soft cheese cubes, crunchy cereal, and a generous mound of sweet red bean paste all come together deliciously.
A scoop of white ice cream sits on top of the shaved ice, with tiny chocolate pieces for the eyes and nose and cookie pieces for the ears, making it look like an adorable bear sitting there.
The softness of the ice cream, the crunch of the cereal, and the chewiness of the mugwort rice cake blended with the red bean into what felt like an old-fashioned version of iced patbingsu. The portion was generous and kept tasting better with every bite — even after being full, I finished nearly all of it.

Mentaiko salt bread: saltier than sweet, and better for it
The mentaiko salt bread, which adds salty mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe) to a salt bread, is an unusual dessert you absolutely have to try here.

Split the bread in half and you'll see the soft bread packed full of salty mentaiko. The signature nuttiness and saltiness of salt bread combined with the umami of the mentaiko creates a twist that goes beyond sweet-and-salty into a bold, salty-on-salty delight.

Deep black Americano and the salt latte
This is a hot Americano made with nutty deep black beans. As expected, it had a deep, rich body with nutty flavor, pairing perfectly with both the sweet patbingsu and the salty mentaiko salt bread.

The friendly owner also made us a latte with a pinch of salt — the name hasn't been decided yet, but the salt seemed to intensify the coffee flavor, and it suited my taste perfectly.
Is Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe worth the drive?
Watching the rain fall over the lake while enjoying a warm Americano alongside Dotorigol's old-style patbingsu and mentaiko salt bread made for an unforgettable memory on our Yangpyeong outing.
If you're planning a light drive or outing in Yangpyeong, I recommend a delicious healing break at Dotorigol Yangpyeong Garden Cafe, a pet-friendly café that has it all — taste, visuals, and atmosphere.
