Late-night dessert run: walnut persimmon cheesecake, Something About
In short
Something About Coffee is a three-floor dessert café in Gangnam, Seoul, halfway between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. Stopping in around 8pm as a second stop after dinner, the visit included walnut persimmon cheesecake, Earl Grey pound cake, cold brew and black sesame cream latte at an outdoor-style table under an awning on the second floor. With three full floors of seating, tables turn over fast even when the place is packed, making it a solid pick for dessert after dinner.

Introducing Something About Coffee, a dessert-packed café that's perfect for a second stop after dinner on a weekend in Gangnam. It's on the restaurant street, roughly halfway between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon.
A big 3-floor café — is there seating at 8pm?
This area gets so much foot traffic that even searching up a café beforehand doesn't guarantee a seat, but since this place uses all three floors of the building, seats are pretty plentiful even when it's crowded.
The 1st floor has floor-to-ceiling windows, and you order on the 2nd floor — desserts are up there too. Since it was busy, we grabbed a seat first..! We visited around 8pm, so there were quite a lot of people there for a second round after dinner. We went through a vintage-looking door on the 2nd floor into a spot styled like an outdoor terrace. Now that it's cooler out, sitting outside gives off a real autumn feel, and it was nice and quiet.

What's on the drink menu?
The drink menu is just as varied as the dessert selection! There are special items with both great visuals and taste, like the matcha cream cold brew or black sesame cream latte, and they carried pretty much everything you'd find at a big franchise café too, so there was plenty to choose from.

Walnut persimmon cheesecake and room-temperature desserts
The cakes and sourdoughs are in the display case. We picked the walnut persimmon cheesecake!! If you love cheese and nutty flavors, this is a total win!! Basically no way to fail with this one. It comes out just sweet enough, piled high with crunchy candied walnuts on top. As of 8pm, about a third of the breads and cakes were left, so if you want to grab the good stuff, it's probably best to get there a bit early, haha.

The room-temperature display also has financiers, scones, cookies, and even ang-butter (red bean butter bread). I was craving something moderately sweet so I picked the Earl Grey pound cake, but there's a wide range of dessert options that would make my chocolate-obsessed husband's eyes light up too.

The desserts look exactly like the kind that make you crave coffee! The room-temperature desserts are all moderately sweet overall. Since dinner was pretty salty and heavily seasoned, I tried to pick desserts that wouldn't send my sugar spiking too much(?).

Outdoor seating under the awning
We ended up seated under the awning, and with the weather cooling down it felt nice and refreshing — plus with the awning up, it seems like it'd be fine even on a rainy day.

We ordered one cold brew, one black sesame latte, and two desserts.

Black sesame cream latte and cold brew taste
The black sesame latte isn't sweet, just nutty and rich. There's a black sesame layer(?) at the bottom, so make sure to mix it in. The cold brew is also nutty without any of that herbal-medicine taste some cold brews have. That black sesame cream latte is still on my mind — there was so much black sesame in it that you could actually feel little bits of it as you drank.

Earl Grey pound cake vs. walnut cheesecake
The top of the Earl Grey pound cake is coated with something sweet, while the cake itself isn't especially sweet, so it went well with coffee. Since I like sweets, though, the walnut cheesecake was my top pick! The candied walnuts on top are crunchy and don't stick to your teeth.

The walnuts on top of the cake were as nice as the ones handed out as wedding favors, haha. The pound cake is also big enough to actually fill you up. If you're visiting with a group, ordering just one or two pound cakes should be plenty.

Recommended as a second-stop café after dinner near Gangnam Station
It was still packed with people even when we left... but since the turnover is good and the place is so big, seats on the 2nd and 3rd floors free up often. I'd recommend this as a café for enjoying dessert right after a meal near Gangnam. It's also worth visiting if you're after unique drinks that are hard to find at other cafés, like the matcha cold brew.
