First photo from the visit to Dream Samgyetang near Dongtan Station

I wanted a hearty meal near Dongtan Station, so I stopped by Dream Samgyetang. When you're feeling run down like these days, hot soup is always what comes to mind — and since they serve everything from samgyetang to chicken noodle soup, it seemed like a good spot for anyone looking for boyangsik (nourishing food) in Dongtan. It's pretty close to Dongtan Station and easy to find since it's on the 2nd floor of the building.

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the KTX Central Park View building near Dongtan Station. The Dream Samgyetang sign is big and visible from outside the building, so it wasn't hard to find even on my first visit. It's close to Dongtan Station too, so it seemed like a good option for a weekday lunch or a meal near the station. The building also has underground parking down to B4, so it's convenient if you're driving.

Spacious, clean interior

Walking in, the place was bigger than I expected. The tables weren't cramped, and overall it was bright and well kept.

Group seating at Dream Samgyetang for larger parties

There were also plenty of seats for larger groups, which seemed good for family outings, meals with parents, or even a group dinner in Dongtan.

Ordering tablet placed on the table

Every table had a tablet, so you could check the menu and order right from your seat.

Baby chair available at the restaurant

Baby chairs were also available.

A variety of samgyetang and meal options

Dream Samgyetang's samgyetang menu board

The menu ranged from the basic Dream Samgyetang to spicy abalone samgyetang, herbal samgyetang, and jjimdak (braised chicken). Beyond samgyetang, there were also plenty of good side dishes like seafood pancake, abalone chicken porridge, seafood porridge, and boneless chicken feet!

Discount notice for the new chicken noodle soup

The new chicken noodle soup was on a discount event, so it was a great value at ₩11,000 — I ordered it right away!

Clean basic side dishes too

A spread of basic side dishes including kimchi, diced radish kimchi, and ssamjang

After ordering, the basic side dishes came out — kimchi, diced radish kimchi, peppers, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and pickled radish, all of which go well with samgyetang. The side dish spread was simple and clean.

Insamju served before the meal

Insamju also came out before the meal.

Salt provided for dipping the samgyetang chicken

Salt was also provided separately, so you could dip the chicken to your taste.

Self-service corner for side dishes and utensils

There was also a self-service corner on one side, so you could easily grab extra side dishes or utensils.

What I ordered

  • Dream Samgyetang
  • Chicken noodle soup

That's what I went with.

Chicken noodle soup, loaded with chicken

The chicken noodle soup came out first. The big bowl was piled with noodles, shredded chicken, and green onion, and the broth looked rich even just by looking at it.

The noodles weren't overcooked and had just the right chewiness, and eating them together with the chicken made for a pretty filling bowl.

A piece of kimchi on top really worked well with it. If samgyetang feels like too much or you just want a simple hot bowl of soup, the chicken noodle soup seems like a solid choice.

Signature Dream Samgyetang

Dream Samgyetang served still boiling

The Dream Samgyetang also arrived still boiling. They say it's simmered for about an hour with 10 ingredients, and rather than being clear, the broth had a slightly thick, rich feel.

Thick, rich samgyetang broth

It's made with domestic fresh chicken simmered with 10 kinds of herbal ingredients and grains. With no preservatives and no MSG, the natural flavor of the ingredients really came through, giving it a proper nourishing-food feel.

The chicken was cooked soft enough that it came apart easily with chopsticks.

Picking up one drumstick, it was quite large, and the meat was moist too.

Dipped lightly in salt, the clean chicken flavor really came alive. Slowly finishing off the broth too, just one bowl was quite filling.

Insamju was also available to pair with the samgyetang.

Final thoughts

This is a solid spot to head to near Dongtan Station whenever samgyetang or nourishing food comes to mind. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and with well-equipped parking, it's convenient for family meals, office lunches, or group dinners alike. Having a wide variety of samgyetang types to choose from is also a plus. Worth checking out if you're looking for a boyangsik restaurant near Dongtan Station or a samgyetang spot in Dongtan.
