Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch is a gondre rice (mountain vegetable rice) set meal restaurant in Gojan-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi. Visiting with two kids, the writer ordered a mackerel set meal (with an extra half mackerel), a cockle salad set, and a spicy stir-fried pork set, and the restaurant provided separate kids' dishware, spoon, fork, and a divided tray. Looking for a healthy, delicious meal in Ansan? I can confidently recommend Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch, an Ansan Korean set meal restaurant! It's really easy to get to, close to Jungang Station, Gojan Station, and Ansan City Hall.
They apparently use fresh gondre (mountain vegetable) grown directly by an elder in Nammyeon, Yeongwol. Maybe that's why the rice tastes so different! Haha. Rice is the foundation of any Korean set meal, right? This place cooks with fresh ingredients every day, with real care.
Thanks to the pleasant condition of the restaurant, it's also popular for family gatherings and group dinners. It's already well known as a Gojan-dong go-to spot and an Ansan date course too~ Today's post is about my visit with my kids! With a menu ranging from beef bulgogi, tofu hot pot, marinated crab, cockle salad, spicy pork stir-fry, to grilled mackerel, there's plenty of fun in choosing.

Parking was easy in the building's basement, and I took the elevator up to the second floor. From the entrance, the sign already had that 'Ansan go-to restaurant' feel ‼️ I walked in with high expectations.

What was the atmosphere like?
The interior was tidy and had a somewhat upscale feel. The moment I walked in, I saw a row of waiting sofas lined up, and thought, yep, this is a proper go-to spot. Haha. There was even a thoughtful little handwashing sink tucked inside. It seemed like they cared a lot about hygiene, so I could eat with peace of mind.

Gondre rice and white rice at the self-serve bar
Once seated, the self-serve bar caught my eye. You can always come back here for more if you run short on side dishes! Both gondre rice and white rice were available, so there was no worry about running out of rice. Haha. The basic side dishes all looked tidy and delicious too, don't they?

The set meals we ordered with the kids
We visited with the kids, so we ordered the mackerel set with an extra half mackerel, the cockle salad set, and the spicy pork stir-fry set. Before the mains arrived, the basic side dishes were set first, and each one — seasoned greens, lotus root, and more — was appetizing.

Separate tray and utensils for the kids
What really moved me was that they prepared separate dishware, spoon, fork, and even a divided tray just for the kids. Thanks to that, the kids could eat comfortably too.

How the grilled mackerel and cockle salad tasted
A little while later, the main dishes arrived! The golden, crispy grilled mackerel was seriously a rice thief. It made me so happy to see the kids eating it well too.
And the cockle salad I was so looking forward to! The cockles were plump and firm, and the sauce clung perfectly to them — truly excellent.

The spicy pork stir-fry needs no explanation — it was so good I finished a whole bowl of rice with it.

The star of the show: gondre rice
But above all, the gondre rice! Mixed with the soy sauce on the table, the gondre aroma filled my mouth — I felt like I could eat just this alone and be happy.

After the meal, plum tea and sikhye (sweet rice punch) were served as dessert, wrapping things up refreshingly~ A perfect finish. Being able to enjoy such a generous, delicious set meal at such a great price — I was really satisfied!
The interior is spacious and clean, so next time I'd like to come back with my parents for a family gathering. They apparently sell lunch boxes too, so it could be great for a picnic sometime. If you're wondering where to have a healthy, delicious meal in Ansan, I strongly recommend Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch — great atmosphere, great taste. Be sure to visit once~!
