Mr. Kim's Chicken Jayang Market Branch

A chicken stop while wandering Jayang Market

Today I want to introduce Mr. Kim's Chicken, located in Jayang Market. My house is near Jayang Market so my family and I visit often haha! This weekend too, while deciding what to do, we headed to Jayang Market again after a while. Wandering around looking at things made us hungry, and while thinking about what to eat, Mr. Kim's Chicken caught my eye. I remembered it being so delicious last time, so I got takeout again without a second thought =3

Market alley crowded with customers in front of the chicken shop on a Saturday evening

We visited on a Saturday evening and, sure enough, it was packed 👀 Even inside the market, people kept coming up to the storefront!

Kitchen frying chicken as orders come in

Freshly fried right after ordering

They fry each order as it comes in! That's probably why you get such crispy, freshly fried chicken haha.

That looks so, so good...

With the smell of freshly fried chicken wafting around, the staff kept busily preparing orders ㅠ.ㅠ With so many customers and chicken frying nonstop, the whole place had a really busy atmosphere. (They told people who came after me that they'd need to wait about 15 minutes.)

Menu and how to order

The menu ranges from old-style fried chicken to dakgangjeong! You can also choose dakgangjeong by flavor, and there are menus by chicken part, so it's easy to pick something to your taste.

Separate notice for pickled radish, sauce, and drinks

Pickled radish, sauces, and drinks are also prepared separately, so keep that in mind if you need any.

Takeout order receipt with order number

After ordering at the counter, they give you a receipt with an order number. They call out the number, so just wait nearby!

We ordered two whole old-style fried chickens along with dakgangjeong.

We finally got home and were ready to eat with the family! The moment we opened the takeout bag, the savory smell of chicken hit us and I wanted to dig in right away.

@ Two whole old-style fried chickens

As expected, the old-style fried chicken was what I was most looking forward to! The outside was so crispy and savory, it was really delicious ㅠ.ㅠ I came back because I remembered it being so good last time, and it was satisfying again this time.

The moment I took a bite, I could really feel the crispy texture, and the meat wasn't dry at all but juicy — so tasty!

Chicken spread served together with gimbap bought from the market

Do you know how good chicken and gimbap (seaweed rice roll) are together... We bought gimbap at the market on the way and ate it alongside, and it was so delicious.

How spicy is the medium-spicy dakgangjeong, medium size?

And here's the dakgangjeong we ordered along with the old-style fried chicken. I ordered it medium-spicy, and it wasn't too spicy but just spicy enough — I liked it! The sweet sauce with a touch of spice made it hard to stop eating. Alternating between the crispy, clean-tasting old-style fried chicken and the dakgangjeong, each had its own charm and I really enjoyed both.

Pickled radish provided as a complimentary service

They also gave us pickled radish as a service.

Seating and parking

There's also seating inside the store, so besides takeout like we did, you can eat there too!

Since it's located inside the market, parking is difficult ㅠ. They said drivers can use a nearby paid parking lot. Personally, I'd recommend using public transportation.

Eating delicious chicken with my family felt like the perfect way to enjoy a weekend evening! After tasting it, I understood why there were so many people. If you're looking for delicious chicken or dakgangjeong in Jayang Market, I strongly recommend Mr. Kim's Chicken :)
