Last week I went to Seoul with the kids, and the first place we stopped by was Jayang Market :)

That day it was raining pretty hard, and the kids were making a fuss about being hungry before our next stop, so we were looking for something simple to grab and eat on the go — and right there in Jayang Market, I spotted a chicken place with people lined up for takeout??!!

At first I just thought, oh, it's a chicken place in the market~ but while waiting, I noticed most of the people picking up takeout seemed to be regulars~ Watching them chat naturally with the owner while grabbing their order, it really felt like a spot loved by the neighborhood, haha.

It happened to be raining that day~ and apparently on rainy days they pack in more than usual~

No wonder they kept pressing more and more in — I even wondered if the owner misheard our order 👍 But since it was raining, we ended up with such a generous portion, and honestly that made me happy‼️💕💕

What I liked most was that once you order, they fry it once more right then~ Instead of just packing up chicken that was fried earlier, they re-fry it fresh on the spot, so there was a bit of a wait, but that only made me look forward to it more, haha.

Chicken really is best straight out of the fryer 😋 Even after being packed for takeout, the crispy texture held up, and the dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken bites) was crispy on the outside with the sauce blended in perfectly — genuinely delicious 👏

How did the kids react?

And here's the feedback from our household's little food critics!!!! They said this was the best dakgangjeong they'd ever had and were too busy eating to talk much, haha. They usually love fried chicken and dakgangjeong and have tried it all over the place, but this day seemed extra good, because they kept saying it was delicious the whole time they ate, haha. Watching them eat well is great, but with the price being so reasonable too, it makes this Jayang Market dakgangjeong spot even more satisfying ❤️

You can eat inside too

There are also tables and chairs inside where you can eat 👍 Since it's a chicken shop inside a market, it doesn't have the flashy franchise-store feel, but that's exactly what gives it the warm, nostalgic vibe of a true neighborhood chicken place :)
