I was trying to figure out where to take my two kids on the weekend, and this time I decided to do something a bit different — a board game café :) These days if the kids stay home too long, they just want games or videos, so on weekends I try to find somewhere they can move around and play together.

After looking around, I ended up at Hero Board Game in Nowon. I'd been to a board game café once before with my older child, but I worried my younger one might be too little to find anything fun there. In the end, the younger one asked to go again!!! haha Let me introduce it :-)

Why Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon works for a weekend with kids

I visited Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch on the weekend with my two kids. Since we planned to stay a few hours with a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old, we chose the floor seating so we could take our shoes off and relax.

There were plenty of other seating options too. We did an opening run at 12:00, and by around 2:00 the place had really filled up ~

We'd already had lunch but were getting a bit hungry, and luckily they sell plenty of snacks, so we figured we'd eat while playing games ~ One menu item per person is required! (They also sell shaved ice, but one order counts for 2 people.)

Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch has such a huge selection of board games that it was genuinely fun for the kids just to browse and pick one out. After looking around, they first chose Uno. I explained the rules and we played a round together, and their competitive streak turned out to be way more intense than I expected haha

There were plenty of games that even a preschooler could enjoy without trouble. When picking a board game, look for ones labeled 'beginner' — most of those are easy enough to play, so keep that in mind!

Arcade games, Nintendo, and PlayStation at Hero Board Game Cafe

Besides board games, there's also Nintendo and puzzles, and Nintendo Mario Kart seemed to be the most popular by far!!

There was even an arcade-like vibe where you could enjoy games, which was fun. While the kids played, I got to relax for a bit. The kids were so focused on their games that I actually got a little breathing room too.

Beginner games the 5- and 7-year-olds loved 🎲

When I take the kids to a board game café, games that are too complicated lose their interest fast. So this time I focused on picking games that both the 5-year-old and 7-year-old could play easily.

Okidoki Expedition

Okidoki Expedition is a game where you complete missions shown on cards, so the kids could follow along without much trouble. It had an adventurous feel that both of them enjoyed haha

Funny Bunny

Funny Bunny is a cute game with rabbit characters that the 5-year-old especially loved. The rules aren't complicated, so it was great even for a kid trying board games for the first time.

Memory Bakery

Memory Bakery is a memory-matching game with bread-themed pictures. Watching the kids stare intently at the pictures, trying to remember them, was really cute :)

GO GO Gelato

GO GO Gelato is a game where you solve puzzles using gelato pieces, which made it fun and easy for the kids to grasp visually. Matching up colors added a nice layer of fun, and it worked well as a game for the two siblings to play together.

TOP Tap Tap!

TOP Tap Tap is a game where you carefully stack blocks one at a time without letting the tower fall. The rules are simple enough that even the 5-year-old could join in easily, while the 7-year-old played with a bit more focus haha Personally, I thought simple-rule games like this were perfect for two siblings, ages 5 and 7, playing together!

Food and drinks: smoothie and churros at Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon

After playing for a while, the kids suddenly said they were hungry haha

So we checked the menu and ordered a smoothie and churros! Eating while playing games seemed to make the kids even more excited haha

After playing to our hearts' content and filling our stomachs, it felt like we'd spent our time really well. You can find things to do in Nowon and take care of a meal all in one place ~!!

Honest review of Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon with two young kids

I took both kids this time on a weekend visit, and it ended up being way more fun than I expected. Spending time together playing board games like this made me feel like I'd properly played with my kids for the first time in a while.
