My husband really likes pizza. A pizza. addict.

Since he's such a pizza maniac, he's tried all kinds — from famous chains to neighborhood pizza shops — so he's built up quite a pizza résumé haha. Usually he ends up thinking our regular spot is still the best, so he doesn't get his hopes up for new pizza places. But this time, we found a pizza restaurant near Sillim Station that completely flipped that mindset. It's Pug Pizza House.

Lunch with the baby after the 100-day photos: why pizza?

That day we went to a studio in Sillim-dong to take our baby Bamtol's 100-day photos, and it drained our energy way more than expected. Why is it always the parents who get exhausted taking one baby photo, haha. As soon as we walked out we were starving and craving lunch... so we decided on Pug Pizza House. We'd already made a reservation.

Since we have to bring the baby along for every meal out now, hot soups or barbecue places feel a bit risky, so we end up eating pasta, pizza, or burgers often because they're easier. That day we just went with pizza — my husband's soul food. Plus pizza can always be packed to go if things get hectic. Parenting wisdom, ugh.

Parking was tricky, but the food came out fast

Parking at Pug Pizza House was actually harder than I expected. We spent some time looking for a spot nearby and got a little late, so I went in and ordered first while my husband kept searching for parking. Right when he finally parked and arrived, the pizza and salad were already on the table?? Fast food service for hungry people — this one gets serious praise from me haha.

Crispy outside, moist inside: the dough

Honestly, up until this point I didn't have high expectations. I figured our usual pizza place would still win, but after one bite we were both satisfied at the same time. What surprised me most was the dough. It was some of the crispiest dough I've ever had, yet the inside of the pizza was still moist. That combination was so much better than I expected.

When dough is this crispy, the whole pizza can sometimes end up feeling dry and stiff, but here the outside was crispy while the inside stayed moist, so the more you chewed, the more the savory flavor came through. If you love pizza, you'll know exactly what I mean haha.

More than just a good-looking pizza place

Honestly, when I first saw the interior I thought this might be a place that wins on looks alone?? But my guess was completely off. No style-over-substance here. It's an open kitchen, so you can see the space where the pizza gets made directly, and the kitchen looked clean and well-managed overall. It wasn't just a pretty interior — the food itself was done properly too.

We also tried the salad, and eating it in between bites of pizza gave a refreshing lift that cut through the richness nicely.

Why we nearly ordered a second pie to go

When I love a pizza, I always get the urge to pack another whole pie to take home. That day I genuinely thought about buying an extra one to bring back haha. But then I figured coming back to Sillim later for freshly made pizza would taste even better, so I held back and left empty-handed. Instead, I made sure to grab a bunch of Pug Pizza House stickers so I wouldn't forget the place haha.

Back home, I stuck one on my phone too. I think this counts as my personal favorite pizza restaurant near Sillim Station now, right?? I used to be the type who kept going back to the same old pizza place, playing it safe, but this time I came all the way to Sillim and found a whole new favorite pizza.
