The weather's been so perfect for outdoor activities lately that I bet a lot of you are planning family outings too :) This time I went with my in-laws, my husband, and our 19-month-old to check out the Hyundai Outlet in Daejeon.

As they say, food comes first even for mountain scenery — after shopping we went looking for a good meat spot nearby and found this place. Let me tell you about Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip (한마음정육식당 탑립점), one of the Daejeon restaurants where you can really feel that camping vibe!
Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip: tent barbecue in the middle of Daejeon
Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip is an outdoor tent BBQ pork restaurant in Tapnip-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon. The moment we arrived I was surprised to see a big water play area haha.

I felt a little sorry we hadn't come during warm daytime weather — our baby would have loved it — but the atmosphere itself was still amazing.

Unlike a regular restaurant, Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip seats you in outdoor tents. Pay a ₩15,000 tent fee and you get your own private space for the family :)

There was plenty of cold water ready to go, too, which made it feel like we were really at a campsite.
What a mixed pork tray comes with, and why staff grill it for you
With four adults, we ordered two mixed pork trays to start, but we were so hungry that we added one more — three trays in total.

The best part was that a staff member pre-grills the meat at a station right in front of the tent!
Usually when you go to a BBQ place with a baby, someone's stuck grilling the whole time, but thanks to this service we could just relax and chat while we ate.
We also added the mushroom platter for ₩7,000, which you really can't skip with meat — it came with a nice variety, and the grill got wonderfully full. Piling a grilled mushroom on top of a perfectly browned piece of pork and taking a bite, the juices just burst in your mouth — so good 😋

The basic side dishes came out neatly on a tray too — scallion salad, kimchi, and lettuce wraps all paired perfectly with the meat. The bubbling doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) cut through the richness and kept us coming back for more.
Is Hanmaeum Tapnip good with a baby? Mini shop to indoor play room
Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip has a mini shop inside where you can grab any side dishes you might be missing during the meal.

They stock quite a variety, from ramyeon to snacks, so it's fun to browse and pick.

We hadn't brought food for the baby, but instead of rice bowls they sell instant rice (Hetbahn) here. Just buy one and heat it up in the shop's microwave — no need to worry :)

The dishware area was also neatly organized, so it was convenient to grab whatever we needed.

Probably because they get a lot of families, baby chairs were available and spotlessly clean, so we could use them worry-free.

There's even a large indoor play room for kids in the building next to the shop! Watching our baby run around happily with no time to get bored after the meal made me so happy.
One thing to note: since the place is near bushes, there were quite a lot of mosquitoes in summer.

Luckily the owner thoughtfully lit mosquito coils for us and even lent us kids' mosquito repellent — really appreciated that :)
Sparklers and yogurt at the end, plus tips before you go
Toward the end of the meal at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip, the owner hands out sparkler sets to everyone.

Watching the sparks twinkle under the night sky made our family time feel even more special.

They also gave us cool yogurt on the house as a final palate cleanser, which ended things on a happy note. My husband and I promised each other, "Once the weather cools down, we have to come back," haha.

If you're looking for a Daejeon restaurant where you can get a camping feel with your kids, Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Tapnip won't disappoint! Use the tips and info above to plan your visit and have a great meal out :)
