These days eating out makes my hands shake a little — even one stew can run over ₩10,000! But in Sintanjin, Daejeon, there's a Korean restaurant that's genuinely delicious, seriously generous with portions, and still great value. Let me introduce a place I've visited more times than I can count: the all-you-can-eat barley rice restaurant, Baengnyeon Boribap (백년보리밥)!
Where is Baengnyeon Boribap in Sintanjin, and is there parking?
Baengnyeon Boribap is at 358 Sintanjin-ro, 1st floor, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, South Korea, open 11:00–20:30 with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00. It sits right on Sintanjin's main road, so it was really easy to spot at a glance!
When you're heading out with family or coworkers, the most stressful part is always driving and parking. There's a decent-sized lot right in front of the restaurant, and if you go a little further inside the building, there's even more parking space, so we had no trouble at all!

How to avoid the wait: the first dinner seating at Baengnyeon Boribap
Baengnyeon Boribap has become a really popular lunch spot among locals near Sintanjin, so there's a wait at lunchtime. To dodge the line, we went right when break time ended, for the first dinner seating! If you want to eat without rushing, I really recommend going for that first evening slot.

Even if you do end up waiting during peak hours, no worries — the restaurant has a nicely set-up waiting area with the cute name 'majibang' (welcome room)!

The space itself is clean and bright overall, which felt just right for a cozy family meal.
Baengnyeon Boribap Sintanjin menu and prices
Looking at the menu, I was honestly surprised at how reasonable the prices were given today's cost of living. For full Korean set meals, the pricing felt like a real bargain, haha.

This time there was a new menu item, so we jumped on it without hesitation! We ordered the siraegi bone soup + barley rice + pork bulgogi set, and the aged kimchi cheonggukjang + barley rice + mackerel set. I was really looking forward to the new siraegi bone soup.
What's on the all-you-can-eat barley rice and namul bar
After ordering, you head to the middle of the restaurant where there's a bar-style self-serve buffet. You take the big tray they give you and pile on as many side dishes as you like.

It's not just about the number of dishes — the quality of each one was seriously impressive.

Simple, well-made namul (seasoned vegetable side dishes) like bean sprouts, radish salad, and bracken fern were there as a given, along with glossy japchae, salty-sweet braised beef, and springy acorn jelly — all neatly set out!
My husband and I don't skip anything, so we loaded our tray with over ten different banchan. Guys with big appetites don't need to hold back either — you can eat until you're completely full, which is part of why Baengnyeon Boribap is such a satisfying Korean restaurant in Sintanjin!

How to mix barley bibimbap with cheonggukjang
While we made the most of the self-serve bar, our main dishes arrived! Once the hearty aged kimchi cheonggukjang and the new siraegi bone soup we'd been waiting for landed on the table, the whole thing was packed full.
In a mixing bowl, we layered the barley rice, the namul we'd gathered, and a fried egg, then drizzled on the nutty sesame oil and gochujang (red pepper paste) sitting on the table and mixed it all up.

A flavor any Korean would love!!!
A tip from us: add a few spoonfuls of the deep, rich cheonggukjang broth plus a little tofu when you mix it in — it makes everything so much more savory and moist!!

How was the new siraegi pork bone soup?
The new siraegi bone soup had greens boiled down soft with no toughness or chewiness. The broth was deep and hearty, the kind that hits the spot and settles your stomach.
There were two generously sized bones in it too, so it was plenty filling!
Paired with the smoky, sweet-and-spicy pork bulgogi, it was an absolute rice thief!

Wrapping it with the scallion shreds on top of the pork bulgogi added another layer of flavor.

Grilled mackerel and Baengnyeon fried dumplings
The grilled mackerel was large, with no fishy smell at all, and came out crisp on the outside, tender inside, packed with flesh!
It wasn't overly salty, just mildly savory, which made it perfect to wrap with the barley bibimbap or fresh lettuce.

The freshly fried dumplings we got as a review service were hot and packed full inside — so good!

Who is Baengnyeon Boribap best for?
Wholesome, tidy namul, hearty cheonggukjang, the excellent broth of the new bone soup, wallet-friendly prices, and — most important — great taste and friendly service all come together at Baengnyeon Boribap in Sintanjin. It's a wonderful spot to bring your parents, and I'd strongly recommend it for family meals with kids or group gatherings. If you're near Sintanjin looking for a filling, easy-on-the-stomach Korean restaurant that won't break the bank, this one's worth a visit! Thanks for the great meal again today~♥
