A Songdo family lunch with 3 adults and 3 preschoolers

This time we went as a group of six — three adults and three preschool-age kids. We were looking for somewhere the kids could eat comfortably, and since this place has both kalguksu and jjimdak, we figured it'd work well for a family meal out.

We went on a Saturday around 12:30pm, and even without a reservation there were plenty of open seats. That said, Songdo has a lot of office buildings nearby, so it's probably busier with office workers on weekday lunches. If you're hunting for Songdo lunch spots on a weekday, it might be worth giving yourself some extra time.

Near the entrance, there were plenty of phone and device chargers available.

There were separate seats set up for people dining alone, so solo diners could eat comfortably too. It seemed like a place that works well not just for families but also for office workers grabbing lunch by themselves. Since Songdo has so many workplaces nearby, I imagine a lot of solo diners come through on weekdays 😊

What makes Eonyang Dak Kalguksu easy to visit with kids

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch has kid spoons, high chairs, disposable bibs, and small plates all set up at the self-serve bar. For families like ours visiting with kids, that was reassuring to see.

There were two self-serve stations inside the restaurant, so if we ran low on side dishes we could just grab more ourselves. Two types of kimchi were available — a milder one and a spicier one — so we could each pick what suited our taste, plus pickled radish. Best of all, we didn't have to keep asking staff for refills — we could just help ourselves without feeling awkward about it, haha.

There were also kid spoons at the self-serve bar. A high chair was ready on one side too, available whenever needed. As a family who eats out with kids often, little touches like this were quietly appreciated 😊

Disposable bibs were on hand too, along with small plates we could grab ourselves — all pretty convenient for eating with kids. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant in Songdo District 1 that also works well with children in tow, this seems like a solid option.

Large dak kalguksu, 12,000 won: half a chicken in the bowl

At Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch we ordered soy jjimdak for 2-3 people (₩29,000), added glass noodles (₩2,000), and got the large chicken kalguksu (₩12,000).

We started with the chicken kalguksu. Ordering it large meant a pretty generous portion. What really stood out was half a whole chicken sitting right in the bowl — it looked seriously hearty. There was plenty of noodles too, and the broth was on the thick side, so finishing the whole bowl definitely fills you up, lol.

The broth had a subtle, savory perilla seed aroma, and eating the chicken with the noodles was really satisfying. The seasoning was just slightly salty — fine for us adults, but if you're planning to feed it to a baby, it might be worth asking them to go easier on the seasoning when ordering. The chicken was also easy to share with the kids, and with the noodles on top, it worked well as a family meal.

Soy jjimdak ordered with no spice — did the kids eat it?

Since we were eating with the kids, we asked for the soy jjimdak to be made completely non-spicy. We also added a serving of glass noodles — jjimdak really isn't complete without them, lol.

The soy jjimdak had a mildly sweet, slightly salty flavor that worked well for the kids. It wasn't so bland that it fell flat for adult taste buds either, so we all enjoyed it together. The kids picked out the chicken and glass noodles, while the adults ate the kalguksu and jjimdak together — with just two dishes, all six of us ended up pretty full.

Eating out with kids often means ordering separate dishes for adults and kids, so it was nice being able to share Korean dishes like this across the whole table. If you're hunting for a restaurant in Songdo, Incheon where you can eat comfortably with kids, this one's worth a visit.

How the whole meal went

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch was a place we could eat generously and heartily, from the chicken kalguksu to the jjimdak. In particular, having kid spoons, a high chair, disposable bibs, and a self-serve bar all ready made things easy when dining with children. For families with preschool-age kids like ours, picking what to order isn't hard here at all.

I also liked that even on a Saturday lunch, we found seats easily without a reservation. That said, given how many office workers are around Songdo's business district, weekday lunchtime might feel a bit different.

If we're ever in Songdo again, our family would love to come back 😊 This time we ordered the soy jjimdak without any spice since we were eating with the kids, but next time I'd like to try some of the other menu items too.
