Songdo jjimdak restaurant, soy braised chicken with glass noodles

Today I finally had a date with just my mom, dad and me — something we haven't done in ages! We see each other every Monday, but this time it wasn't just home and office, we went for a drive and ate out together. Such a happy family date! I hope it's always this happy!

(Not gonna lie, it was pouring rain and I had a mini panic attack driving through a tunnel — almost took out all three of us, and my mom and dad were pretty shaken too, but shh, that's a secret.)

Why we chose Eonyang Dak Kalguksu for a Songdo family dinner

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a Korean restaurant on Haedoji-ro in Songdo District 1, and this time the family dinner menu was dak-jjim (braised chicken). My sister has dates with mom and dad pretty often, but I've been so busy with work I hadn't managed a proper date with them in a while! Since it had been so long, I picked dak-jjim — a menu all three of us would love. Hehe!

Actually I used to live near here and already knew it as a well-known restaurant in Songdo District 1, so I went back to visit!

Soy jjimdak with extra glass noodles: mom's pick was the right call

I actually wanted something a bit spicy, but since mom was the star of our dinner outing, she said let's go soy braised, so we ordered soy dak-jjim with added glass noodles — and yep, you really should listen to mom!

(It was insanely good. Just straight up amazing. Adding the glass noodles was a genius move. Ridiculously tasty.)

The spicy napa cabbage kimchi from the self-serve bar is the kicker

After a bit of waiting, today's ridiculously delicious soy dak-jjim showed up! This place actually has two kinds of napa cabbage kimchi at the self-serve bar — mild and spicy — and the spicy one is the real kicker! It's such an insane combo with dak-jjim that the three of us already promised each other we'd come back for the kalguksu next time!

My beloved glass noodles were so good, and the chicken meat in the dak-jjim was tender with tons of meat on the bone! None of the three of us hold back when it comes to eating, so we really stuffed ourselves! We even ordered two bowls of rice!

Mixing rice into the glass noodles and then topping it with the spicy kimchi — that was another level of delicious!

The cheese rice cakes I love so much came in giant, king-sized pieces — three of them! Perfect so the three of us didn't have to fight over them, one each. Every single bite was just so, so good!

(There are a lot of hagwons — after-school academies — around this area too, and it was really nice to see middle and high school students grabbing dinner here before heading off to class!)

Even mom, who had no appetite lately, cleared her plate

My favorite combo was definitely piling that spicy kimchi onto the glass noodles — so, so good!! My mom, who's been losing her appetite lately, thankfully ate really well, and my dad even had a shot of soju for the first time in a while!

Nobody held back on the meat — we ate a really generous portion together, no hesitation at all. I can see exactly why this place is also famous as one of the best restaurants in Songdo, Incheon!

I got to do one of my favorite things in life — taking photos of my parents — while thinking: I'll give you my whole life, so please, let's just be happy together for a thousand years, please don't get sick, please give me enough time to pay back everything I owe you!!!

(I always feel like being the youngest is the most unfair position! If I'm born again, I'm having my mom and dad as my twin kids so I can take even better care of them!)

While taking heart-shaped hand photos, I got a little teary seeing how much their hands have aged, but seeing them still so close and happy together made this youngest daughter's heart warm anyway! Hehe, but why can they nail this heart pose and yet — why, WHY!!!

I still don't know why they can't quite manage a heart, but I had such a happy dinner with the family I love, came home and even had a really happy dream that night — I was just happy all around! Hehe, I guess it all comes down to eating good food, right? When the food is delicious, the happiness multiplies too~ hehe
