I sometimes get a craving for old-school Korean-style pork cutlet, but my husband isn't really a fan of it. So after finally talking him into it, we headed to Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch for cutlet.

I already like this kind of Korean-style comfort food, so of course I enjoyed it — but surprisingly, my husband liked it more than I expected! He said the sauce on his cutlet was way better than he'd anticipated. So what did he order?

This Yongsan pork cutlet favorite, Onjeong, is about an 8-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hyochang Park Station, sitting next to Kkanbu Chicken between the Richensia A and B buildings — not hard to find at all!

and besides the regular tables, there are bar-style seats that are great for eating alone — so it seems like a good spot for solo dining too.

The menu is built around Korean-style pork cutlet along with soba and udon — there are four kinds of cutlet, from the classic version to spicy, cheddar cheese, and curry cutlet, plus set menus paired with udon or soba, so it was easy to pick according to what you're in the mood for.

They said they use only Dodram Korean pork every day and fry the cutlets in freshly managed oil with a steam-injection fryer. That confidence about the cutlet had me excited even before I'd taken a bite.

Ordering two set menus meant the two of us could properly enjoy two types of cutlet plus both udon and soba.

Soba & classic pork cutlet set, 14,500 won

I ordered the soba & classic pork cutlet! Since it's still pretty hot out, I wanted something cool, so I went with cold soba instead of udon. Cold soba with sweet old-school pork cutlet = ❤️ a familiar combo, but that's exactly why it's so dangerously good. It was exactly what I wanted, so I cleaned my plate 😋 It also came with mushroom soup and a morning roll with strawberry jam, giving it that full nostalgic pork cutlet feel.

Udon & cheddar cheese pork cutlet set, 15,000 won

My husband ordered the udon & cheddar cheese cutlet. Honestly, I didn't expect much from the udon, but the noodles were chewier than I thought and really good! And the cutlet he actually loved — despite usually not liking thin, old-style cutlets like this — was the cheddar cheese cutlet.

The cutlet comes topped with a generous amount of cheddar cheese sauce, and the sauce really was thick and rich, loaded with cheese, savory and salty in the best way! After one bite, my husband said the sauce was the whole point, and he ended up scraping up every last bit of both the cutlet and the sauce. Seeing him enjoy it so much made me weirdly proud ^_^

At Onjeong, Yongsan branch, you can freely refill the rice and side dishes that come with your meal at the self-serve bar, making for an even more filling meal.

We visited with our baby this time, and since there was a baby chair on hand, we were able to eat comfortably 👶🏻
