Today I'm introducing Allegro!

Something about Fridays makes me want a dinner that's a little different from usual (is it just me? haha)

Searching hard for what to do this Friday, I found out a restaurant with live jazz had just opened on Songridan-gil, so I went with a friend after work.

Perfect for setting the Friday-night mood, this pasta spot in Bangi-dong, Allegro! Let's get into the review.

Allegro, this Songpa restaurant, is a 4-minute walk from Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station. Being so close to the subway made it really easy to get to!

Allegro is a dining restaurant where you can enjoy pasta and Italian dishes while listening to live jazz. There's a jazz performance every day except its regular closing day.

Allegro is a musical term meaning to play fast and lively on the score, and I loved how the owner's real devotion to music came through right from the name of the place. My friend and I both really love music, so this made the dinner even more exciting to look forward to!

Inside Allegro: the stage, the seats and the Lotte Tower view

Here's the inside of Allegro, this Western restaurant near Jamsil. True to a newly opened restaurant, the whole space was clean and comfortable, with soft lighting and a modern interior that gave it an upscale feel.

Through the window you can watch the sun go down, and the sunset added an even more romantic mood. Visiting in the evening, the atmosphere was really wonderful!

Up front there's a stage set up for the live jazz performances. It's rare to find a place where you can enjoy live music while eating like this, so I was so glad to see a spot like this open on Songridan-gil!

For someone who loves both music and good food, this was honestly the perfect space for me. I hope word spreads fast so lots of people come, and that Allegro stays open for a long, long time so more performers get a stage to play on.

You can see Lotte Tower through the window, so the view outside was really lovely.

We got there around 7, before too many other guests arrived, so we could take our time photographing the inside without a crowd. By around 7:30, when the show starts, guests started arriving one after another! As you'd expect from a popular restaurant in Songpa, a lot of them looked like they were there for anniversaries or dates.

The spot where the dishes come out is built like a window looking into the kitchen, and it was such a cute, charming touch.

This pasta spot near Bangi-dong, Allegro, also has an outdoor terrace. We took an indoor table to enjoy the jazz, but if you're visiting for lunch, eating on the terrace would be lovely too — the view of Lotte Tower there was really great.

Here's the menu at Allegro, this pasta spot in Bangi-dong. We ordered prosciutto potato salad, sous-vide pork steak, and vongole. My friend said since we were at a jazz bar we should order a bottle of wine to set the mood, haha, so we also got the Pais Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon 2025.

Allegro also runs a lunch happy hour. Visit for lunch and the pasta dishes are ₩16,000, with 15% off the whole menu. The prices are good enough that it seems like a great spot for office workers to grab lunch too.

Pais Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon 2025

A staff member poured our first glass of wine. Since I'm still not drinking these days, I just kept one glass in front of me to be part of the mood, haha, sniffle. Having a glass sitting there somehow made the atmosphere feel that much better anyway!

The bread served before the meal

The bread came out first. Each of us got one piece, warm and chewy — delicious, and a great way to warm up the appetite before the main dishes.

Prosciutto potato salad

A Piedmont-style salad with potatoes tossed in cream cheese and horseradish sauce, topped with prosciutto.

My friend wanted to order a salad, but since I'd already had one at lunch I wasn't really in the mood for more greens, haha. Then right there on the menu under salads was this prosciutto potato salad, this Western dish near Jamsil, so I jumped on it, haha.

The mild, nutty potato paired really well with the salty prosciutto. It'd make a great wine snack too, and it was nice to have as a salad before the pasta and steak.

Vongole

An oil pasta with fresh clams and the flavor of white wine.

The vongole was delicious, with a subtle garlic-and-oil aroma coming together with the savory richness from the clams! Not heavy at all, it was the kind of dish you keep reaching back for.

Sous-vide pork steak

Domestic pork shoulder sous-vide cooked then seared crispy, served with peppercorn sauce.

I worried a pork shoulder steak might be a bit dry, but oh, not at all! Cooked sous-vide, it was so tender and moist. The peppercorn sauce that came with it was exactly my style, and I scraped every bit of the sauce off the plate... I nearly asked for more.

Another Season's live set at Allegro, and how tipping works

Now let me write up the live jazz part. We sat up front, haha. At first I actually said the front seats felt a little too exposed and suggested sitting further back, but my friend really wanted the front row. My friend used to go to jazz bars often while living abroad, and said this was their first time at a place like this in Korea, so they were super excited.

The night we visited, the jazz band Another Season was performing. They're a band that plays across jazz and pop with a Brazilian music base, apparently. Everyone was seriously talented, and we enjoyed the whole set throughout the meal — getting to watch such a high-level live performance right in front of us was honestly such a happiness.

My friend especially was so thrilled, clapping loudly at the end of every song. Seeing them so happy and excited put me in a great mood too, haha.

Then in the middle of the set my friend suddenly said, 'I need to tip them,' and pulled out their wallet — apparently there was cash set aside for golf that they'd decided to use instead, haha. I'm normally against bringing tipping culture into Korea, but my friend insisted this was tribute for an amazing performance and it had to be given. Something about how in the States, at good jazz bars, people line up to tip the performers, haha. Fine... go ahead...

Right before we left to go home, my friend shook hands with the musician they liked best and handed over the tip in person. That's how much my friend loved the jazz performance — already saying we should come back to Allegro, this restaurant in Songpa, again.

That wraps up my review of Allegro, this pasta spot near Bangi-dong. A place with great atmosphere where you can enjoy live jazz and a good meal at the same time!

It seems great for a date night or anniversary dinner on Songridan-gil, and with the lunch happy hour discount it's also a solid value option during the day. If you love music and good food, I'd really recommend giving it a visit at least once!
