Raw beef sashimi set at a Daejeon Doan-dong hanwoo restaurant: Worang
In short
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch is a hanwoo (Korean beef) butcher restaurant on Doandong-ro 12beon-gil in Seo-gu, Daejeon, serving 30–40 month-old hanwoo cows across 17 private rooms that seat up to 200 guests. Over a dinner with a friend, the writer chose a hanwoo platter straight from the chilled showcase and ate it with a set table of yuksasimi (raw beef sashimi), cheonyeop (beef tripe) and salted pollock roe, a rich broth like hanwoo gukbap, and ice cream and coffee on the way out. Worang Myeongga Doan suits an unhurried dinner where the point is talking, not rushing.

Every place that claims good meat shows off nice marbling, has a self-serve bar, and honestly it all starts to feel the same, doesn't it? Hahaha???
But the Doan-dong meat restaurant I went to with a friend, Worang Myeongga Doan Branch, was genuinely delicious ><

They only serve 30-40 month-old hanwoo cows, and with 17 rooms and space for up to 200 people, the scale felt like no ordinary spot haha.

When I'm hunting for a Daejeon hanwoo beef spot, I always look at two things.
Meat quality and the atmosphere of the space.
No matter how good the meat is, if the restaurant feels chaotic, the meal isn't comfortable.
On that front, this Doan-dong meat restaurant nailed both haha. Worang Myeongga has several other branches around Daejeon too, which made me trust it even more — feels like it's been proven out.
First impressions and parking at Worang Myeongga Doan Branch
Worang Myeongga Doan Branch is on the 1st floor at 23 Doandong-ro 12beon-gil, Seo-gu, Daejeon, and both ground-level and underground parking are available. My friend and I went back and forth for a while on where to go for dinner.

I found Worang Myeongga Doan Branch while searching for Doan-dong meat restaurants and booked based on the photos, but it turned out even cleaner in person.

Maybe it's the soft lighting, but the place had this upscale vibe from the moment you walked in.
The hall was spacious and the tables were spaced generously, so I could sit comfortably without worrying about the next table over. My friend said the same the second we walked in.
"This place feels different."
Haha. Parking was easy since both ground-level and underground options are available. We went underground, there was plenty of space, and you just settle up at the front desk when you leave — no hassle at all. Recommended if you're looking for restaurants near Doan Lake Park!!! There aren't many big buildings around, so there's no chance of getting lost haha.
Picking the hanwoo platter from the chilled showcase
Worang Myeongga Doan Branch runs on the butcher-restaurant model, so you look at the meat on display and pick it yourself. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we went with the hanwoo platter.

Being able to eyeball the marbling and pick the cuts yourself is oddly fun. My friend and I went back and forth.
"Should we get this one or that one?"
We debated for a while.
Just standing in front of the chilled showcase talking it through was already half the fun haha. Plus there's a small self-serve bar too haha.
What comes with the set table: yuksasimi, tripe and pollock roe
At Worang Myeongga Doan Branch, before the meat even arrived, the table was already packed with side dishes the moment we sat down. Yukhoe (beef tartare), cheonyeop (beef tripe), and salted pollock roe all came out — and I couldn't believe this was just the basic spread.

Tasting each one, none of it felt like a thrown-together side — you could tell real effort went into every dish.
The soup was especially striking. At first I thought it was doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).

But one spoonful in, it was closer to a rich hanwoo gukbap (beef and rice soup) flavor. Spicy yet deeply savory, I kept reaching for it in between bites of meat.
The steamed egg was so soft it wobbled like pudding when you scooped it with a spoon.

With a spread like this, this Doan-dong meat restaurant is definitely memorable!!!
Charcoal-grilled hanwoo and the private room atmosphere
The moment the hanwoo hit the charcoal at Worang Myeongga Doan Branch, even the sizzling sound was different.

The sizzling smell filled the room, and the first bite hit with a deep beefy aroma. It wasn't chewy at all — it pulled apart smoothly along the grain, and I kept reaching for more.
I skipped the dipping sauce entirely and just added a little salt, and that was better.

That distinctive savory aroma of Daejeon hanwoo beef only got richer the more I chewed. Slightly crisp outside, moist inside — exactly our taste.
The room was quiet and private, a perfect space for catching up with a friend — not having to worry about the next table over turned out to be a bigger plus than I expected.
I've been to plenty of loud, chaotic barbecue places, and this Doan-dong meat restaurant was clearly on a different level. The ventilation was decent too, so even sitting there a long time, our clothes didn't reek of smoke afterward.
Ice cream and coffee after the meal
On the way out after finishing our meal, ice cream and coffee were set up, so we naturally each grabbed one.

After eating meat, you kind of crave something sweet, don't you?

Walking out with coffee in hand with my friend, we agreed:
"They really paid attention to detail here."
That's what we said.
It's not a huge thing, but little touches like this seem to make the whole meal that much more satisfying.
Final verdict: who Worang Myeongga Doan suits
If you want to properly enjoy Daejeon hanwoo beef in a clean, upscale setting, or you want to sit quietly and talk with a friend or acquaintance over dinner, Worang Myeongga Doan Branch is a great fit ><. On the other hand, if you need to eat quickly and head out, it might feel a bit slower than expected — the room atmosphere is really built for a leisurely visit. But if you're after an unhurried dinner where you can sit and talk, you'll definitely love it haha.

This is a place I'd personally add to my list of restaurants near Doan Lake Park, and next time I want to come back with family to try other cuts 🤍 If you're looking for a Doan-dong meat restaurant or want to properly enjoy Daejeon hanwoo beef, give Worang Myeongga Doan Branch a try.
