Dangsan grilled beef intestines with doenjang rice, staff-grilled
In short
Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a grilled beef intestine restaurant just a minute's walk from Exits 11 and 12 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The writer ordered salted galbi (short rib), Korean beef daechang (large intestine) and makchang (small intestine), plus a doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) side, all grilled tableside by staff from start to finish. Odorless, plump daechang, bouncy makchang and addictive doenjang sulbap made this a spot with nothing missing.

This time I visited Chodaechang Dangsan Station. The clean, no-funk daechang and makchang here were delicious.
Chodaechang Dangsan Station hours and how to get there
⏰ Daily 17:00–23:00 (weekends until 01:00)
It's a 1-minute walk from Dangsan Station Exits 11 and 12. Literally right in front of the station.

You wouldn't expect a great beef intestine spot to be hiding in a place like this. It's on the 2nd floor, but take the elevator up.

Apparently it made the Blue Ribbon 2024 list too. Seeing that confident signboard got me a little excited, haha.
The atmosphere inside

The moment I stepped out of the elevator, the inside of Chodaechang looked refreshingly open. When I arrived a bit early there weren't many customers, but seats filled up steadily as we ate.

Unlike the typical daechang restaurant I imagined, the interior of Chodaechang Dangsan Station felt classy and calm, almost like a hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) restaurant. Good atmosphere for a cozy chat.
The menu and what we ordered

The menu at Chodaechang Dangsan Station. We ordered 1 serving of salted galbi, 1 serving of daechang, 1 serving of makchang, and a doenjang sulbap on the side.

If you join the receipt review event you get a free kimchi mari guksu (cold kimchi noodles). We were too full to try it, but keep it in mind if you visit!
The side dishes

This is how the banchan (side dishes) came out. The lettuce and pickles paired well with the rich daechang and makchang, and the potato salad was surprisingly delicious! And don't get me started on the soy sauce dip — add a slice of cheongyang chili, take one bite, and the salty-tangy flavor balances perfectly with the fattiness.
Salted galbi, 1 serving

The salted galbi came out first. We only ordered a small serving to save room for the daechang and makchang.
Galbi, makchang and daechang are all hard to grill over charcoal, so I worried we might have to do it ourselves — but at Chodaechang, the staff grill everything from start to finish. The fire must have been scorching, but they worked hard in front of it the whole time 🥹

The galbi, grilled by staff. A subtle smoky aroma had soaked in, giving it great flavor — the chewy texture and nutty taste really came through.
Daechang and makchang, 1 serving each

The Korean beef daechang and makchang were grilled together. They come lightly seasoned with chili flakes, which is a plus because it cuts the richness. Looking at the menu, there are some seriously spicy options too — if you like heat, give those a try!
They kept grilling everything so well... There was quite a bit of smoke from the charcoal, but the ventilation was excellent, so the air inside stayed fresh and almost no smell lingered.

Plump, perfectly cooked daechang and makchang 😋 Once done, they're moved onto the mesh tray beside the grill. Given that the restaurant's name literally starts with 'cho-daechang' (super daechang), the first bite confirmed it as the star menu — no funky smell at all, just pure daechang flavor carrying the dish on its own. The fat especially tasted incredibly nutty.
Daechang on the left, makchang on the right. Have you ever seen makchang this plump? Honestly, even picking it up with chopsticks, it was hard to tell it apart from the daechang. The texture was super chewy and bouncy, which made it taste even richer.
Side dish: doenjang sulbap

For a side we ordered doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice). It had the basic doenjang flavor with a touch of spiciness added. Not the heaviness of gochujang, but a clean, refreshing taste that kept pulling me back for more — addictive.
Stir it with the ladle and you'll find plenty of chunky bits and rice packed in there. I kept scooping and it never seemed to run out 😋 My companion seemed to like the doenjang sulbap even more than the daechang and makchang, reaching for it more often. Fine by me, honestly — haha.
Final thoughts
The lineup of daechang, makchang, doenjang sulbap and galbi was perfect, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were super friendly — nothing was missing here. If you're looking for a clean, no-funk beef intestine specialist near Dangsan Station, I highly recommend Chodaechang Dangsan Station 💕
