Uncooked instant tteokbokki takeout in Yeouido, boiled at home
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a 20-year-old tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) restaurant in the underground passage linking Yeouido Station and IFC Mall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. With the store full at rush hour, the writer took the uncooked instant tteokbokki home and boiled it herself — the pack came loaded with rice cakes, vegetables, yaki-mandu (pan-fried dumplings), a boiled egg, and ramen noodles, no extra add-ons needed. Just 600ml of water and a few minutes on the stove recreated the same spicy-sweet flavor as eating in-store.

A quick meal near IFC Mall and The Hyundai in Yeouido
Today's post is about a tteokbokki spot in Yeouido! When you're shopping at IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul and get hungry, you want something quick and easy, but when you actually look around the food court, nothing really jumps out ㅠㅡㅠ Prices are steep but it still tastes like average food court fare-
In that case, why not step outside the mall and find a real hidden gem instead! Perfectly accessible too, right in the underground passage connected to Yeouido Station (*˘◡˘*) Let me introduce it to you, let's enjoy it together -ᰔ Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch.

If you walk through the passage from Yeouido Station toward IFC Mall or The Hyundai, you'll definitely pass this spot — Hyeonseonine tteokbokki! It's always crowded no matter the time of day, so I quietly figured it had to be good-

I stopped in my tracks, drawn to read the sign in front of the store, and it turns out this place has a 20-year history? Started as a tiny street cart, it's now become the symbol that comes to mind when you think of spicy tteokbokki in Yongsan — as a member of the tteokbokki-loving squad, I felt like I had no choice but to try it.

Fully packed at rush hour, so I went with takeout
Honestly, I originally planned to sit down and grab a quick dinner in the store, but of course it was rush hour and the place was nearly full, with only a table for four left — sitting there alone made me feel a bit self-conscious, even though nobody was actually judging me 🥹 In the end I decided to just eat comfortably at home and switched course to takeout!

Ready-cooked bunsik tteokbokki vs. instant tteokbokki
Looking at the menu, it was split into two types: bunsik tteokbokki that comes fully cooked, and instant tteokbokki. Since I wasn't going to eat right away when I got home, I figured it made more sense to get the uncooked instant version and cook it myself, so that's what I took out.

〰️ Walking home with light steps, carrying a shopping bag that smelled amazing 〰️

What's in the uncooked instant tteokbokki pack
Here's exactly what came in the uncooked instant tteokbokki pack! Chewy rice cakes and plenty of vegetables as the base, plus yaki-mandu, a boiled egg, the special tteokbokki sauce, and even ramen noodles — a really solid lineup.

How to cook it at home — 600ml of water for 2 servings
The cooking method is super simple too. Let's follow the recipe the owner wrote out and make it together ( ˶˙° ˙ ˶)⑉♥
First, pour the liquid sauce and water into a pot and bring it to a boil. ✔️For 2 servings, just add 600ml of water!

Once the sauce comes to a rolling boil, add the vegetables, rice cakes, and noodles, and stir well so nothing sticks to the bottom ⊹܀☆

Once the rice cakes puff up, lower the heat and let it simmer for 2 more minutes and it's done ✨️

I like the sauce thick and reduced, so I let it simmer gently over low heat for a while longer.

How it tasted at home
I'm not sure if the rice cakes were wheat or rice-based, but they soaked up the sauce and puffed up plump and round, with that chewy texture staying perfectly intact . . 😋

The sauce was also just spicy-sweet enough to hit that classic instant tteokbokki flavor everyone loves.

It just wouldn't feel right without the ramen noodles! You don't need any other add-ons, but the ramen noodles are a must-

So thoughtful of the owner to throw in two eggs so nobody has to fight over one 🤎 Mash the yolk into the sauce and eat it thick and rich — anyone who knows, knows that's the good stuff 🤭

The yaki-mandu, left soaking in the broth until they're so soft they nearly fall apart at the slightest touch of your chopsticks — that's the sweet spot! Eaten that way, the sauce has soaked all the way through and the umami feels totally concentrated. Anyway, delicious 🤤
Wrap-up
The same great flavor at home as eating in the store! For anyone craving spicy-sweet instant tteokbokki, Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a Yeouido favorite worth trying. The easy cooking method and the generous lineup — no extra add-ons needed — make for real value for money :)♡
