Guro, Seoul bar for sundubu kalguksu and cold suyuk: Eulji Pocha

In short

Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch is a retro DJ pocha (street-food style bar) in Guro, Seoul, halfway down Kkalkkal-geori street. The blogger tried sundubu kalguksu (soft tofu noodle soup), seafood pancake, cold suyuk, old-school patbingsu, and a French toast won from the no-lose roulette event, plus coin games like dalgona and doll machines. The food wasn't too spicy or heavy, making it a solid pick for a Guro work dinner.

It's located halfway down Kkalkkal-geori street! Walk about 3 minutes straight from Guro Digital Complex Station Exit 2 and you'll spot the blue sign — easy to find!

Entrance of Eulji Pocha with event signage

Right from the entrance you could tell it's an event pocha where you can play with coins — the signs were already up! Once you see this walking by, there's no way you're not going in><

Photo spot next to the entrance

There was also a cute photo spot right at the entrance, which made it even better~

Retro interior and menu lineup

Interior

Retro pocha interior decorated with old signs and props

I loved the interior the moment I walked in. I'm a huge fan of that retro pocha vibe and this place nailed it, from the old-school signs to the little props — all so clean and pretty 🩵 Plenty of tables and lots of space made it comfortable to eat in.

Menu

Eulji Pocha menu board listing soups through bingsu

There were so many menu items — from soups to simple side dishes to cool bingsu (shaved ice dessert), such a great mix~

Today's menu✨

  • Sundubu kalguksu (soft tofu noodle soup) ₩19,000
  • Seafood pancake ₩17,000
  • Cold suyuk (boiled pork) ₩16,000
  • Old-school patbingsu (red bean shaved ice)
  • Roulette event (French toast)

The no-lose roulette event🎯

Scan the QR code and you get a no-lose roulette side dish event, so make sure to join! I got French toast and was so happy about it.

In-store games and snacks

In-store dalgona and cotton candy coin snack corner
Coin-operated snack area inside the store

The fun part here is you get coins! Order a side dish or drinks and you get one — you can use them for dalgona (honeycomb candy), cotton candy, or the arcade machines!

Claw machine inside the store
Coin game corner with a key-pulling arcade machine
Coin-operated arcade machines

There's a claw machine like this, and also that trendy key-pulling game where you win a product. Even though I had a lot of coins, I couldn't win anything at the claw game ㅠㅠㅠ

Ice cream fridge available for 2 coins
Nostalgic snacks like chakani and jjondegi

You can also get ice cream with 2 coins, and since it's retro through and through, old-school snacks are a must too~ We got things like chakani and jjondegi, all those nostalgic snacks. There are so many uses for the coins here✨

Jongno Record DJ booth taking song requests

And the most important thing — Jongno Record! Since this is a DJ pocha, there's an actual DJ playing music. You write your song request on a slip of paper and hand it in, so feel free to request all your favorite songs haha

Sundubu kalguksu ₩19,000 — a broth good for a hangover too

Sundubu kalguksu piled high with soft tofu and vegetables

The sundubu kalguksu (soft tofu noodle soup) arrived!! The portion of soft tofu was more generous than expected, and the broth looked so refreshing I wanted to dig in right away! It was loaded with all kinds of vegetables and even meat, so eating it together with the broth was even tastier 🩵 The noodles paired well with the broth too, so I kept taking bite after bite🤭

Broth and noodles scooped up from the sundubu kalguksu

The broth especially wasn't too spicy but still refreshing and warm, tasting like it'd be perfect as hangover food the day after drinking haha. And of course a soup like this needs rice…haha eating it with rice was seriously the best 👍🏻 The soft tofu was smooth and there was plenty of broth, so this was a dish I could just keep eating!

Seafood pancake ₩17,000 — plump squid and a crispy exterior

Freshly cooked seafood pancake

We also ordered the seafood pancake 🦑 Since it came out freshly cooked, it looked piping hot and so delicious! The squid especially was warm and plump, giving it great texture when I bit into it :) It didn't taste too floury for a pancake, which was a plus, and the flavors of the seafood and scallions really came through, so I kept reaching for more haha

Cross-section of the crispy-edged seafood pancake

Best of all, the outside was cooked nice and crispy, giving it the best texture! Eating it right away while it was hot kept the crispiness and the squid chewy — such a good combo 🤤 Taking a bite of the sundubu kalguksu broth then a bite of the seafood pancake was such a great pairing

Cold suyuk ₩16,000 — boiled pork served chilled

A plate of chilled cold suyuk

Since this suyuk (boiled pork) comes out cold, I was curious what it would taste like at first, but it was way better than I expected 🤭 The meat was tender with almost no gamey smell, making it easy to eat without feeling heavy! Eating it cold had a different charm than warm suyuk, and it was clean and light-tasting — best 🩵

Finishing with old-school patbingsu and French toast

Old-school patbingsu

Old-school patbingsu topped with red beans and rice cakes
Old-school patbingsu ready to be mixed together

After finishing all the side dishes, we ended with the old-school patbingsu (red bean shaved ice). It had red beans, rice cakes, and lots of other toppings inside — mixing it all together tasted just like the old-fashioned version, cool and sweet.

Roulette event (French toast)

Sugar-dusted French toast won from the roulette event

I can honestly say this was the best-tasting thing, even though it came from spinning the roulette! The sugar on top made it even sweeter, and the bread was cooked well with a nice egg flavor! It's the perfect dessert to eat alongside the bingsu! Definitely order this😊

I really felt good about how well we picked the side dishes. Nothing was too salty and the soju just kept going down smoothly that day😊

January's final verdict💬

Overall, every single dish was delicious. The sundubu kalguksu especially was so good with its refreshing, generous broth! The seafood pancake was satisfying too, crispy with plump squid, and with the cold suyuk added in, the menu variety made for a filling, well-rounded meal 😊 The coin games were so much fun too, I'll definitely be back!! Recommending "Eulji Pocha" for a Guro work dinner or just a good meal.
