From Sagyejinmi to Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi on Guro's Kkalkkal Street

Drinks and food set up at Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi in Guro

I went out for drinks with good food at a Guro bar again after a while. It's called Sagyejinmi Dakgalbi, kind of an old-school all-you-can-eat dakgalbi (grilled chicken) spot on Guro's Kkalkkal Street.

This time it's just had a name change to Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi (박정미닭갈비). I wanted to drink cheap and good, so I went to check it out. This Guro bar is on the 3rd floor of the building haha.

Interior of Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi nearly full on a Friday evening

I got there around 7pm on a Friday and it was almost completely full. So it's actually a popular Guro spot...? I've been around Guro a lot but this was my first time at Sagyejinmi/Bak Jeongmi, and I was shocked to see how packed it was haha.

At this good-value Guro bar, I'd recommend the all-you-can-eat option. ₩30,400 per person gets you unlimited drinks, meat, and chicken — total steal haha.

What's on the self-bar?

Self-bar stocked with meat and side dishes at Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi

At Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi you'll be doing a lot of walking. The self-bar is pretty big with a lot of variety. First off there's instant tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) you can quickly boil up yourself,

then the main event: dakgalbi (salt/sauce/soy) and chicken neck meat, plus thick-cut pork belly and pork ribs. Always fully stocked.

There's also thin-sliced pork belly. I was shocked at how many options there were.

Past the mains, closer to the wall, there are vegetables to pair, rice cakes, soup, fried rice ingredients, and fried chicken. The chicken looked really high-quality just by sight, so I grabbed about half a chicken's worth.

Drinks are also unlimited. And the fact that everything except Pepsi is zero-sugar is a killer feature.

Is the 9,900 won all-you-can-drink worth it?

For ₩9,900 per person, draft beer and soju are unlimited. Just one draft beer and one bottle of soju per person already costs about ₩10,000, so you'd be crazy not to get the drink package. Is this heaven or what? Note: bottled beer isn't included haha.

How does the dakgalbi at Bak Jeongmi taste?

A plate piled with salt dakgalbi and chicken neck meat

With all that delicious food in front of me, I had to keep my composure first and piled a plate with the signature salt dakgalbi and chicken neck meat. This much would cost almost ₩30,000 at a regular dakgalbi place... how is this Guro bar so cheap? haha

Draft beer poured into a chilled glass with vegetables to grill

Cold beer poured into a chilled glass from the fridge came along with mushrooms and vegetables to grill. Haha, I was so excited.

I brought back plenty of chicken too. Maybe they intentionally fry a lot of drumsticks, because there were tons of drumsticks left.

They had fried chicken, soy sauce chicken, and even seasoning sauce ready to go. 'Good value' doesn't even cover it... is this a charity operation or something?

You can kind of tell from the photo, but the batter is on the thinner side and genuinely crispy. It was way more delicious than expected — I was surprised.

Rabokki cooked on your own tabletop burner

They brought over a personal burner and boiled up some rabokki (ramyeon + tteokbokki) too. The sauce is sweet-savory and pretty tasty.

Since it's wheat rice cakes, the seasoning really soaks in — so good. Eating it with the chicken is basically the ultimate combo.

Salt, spicy sauce or soy: salt dakgalbi wins

While the tteokbokki was cooking, the dakgalbi and chicken neck meat were grilling away! Make sure to grill some bean sprouts alongside — they're delicious on their own, and even better wrapping around the dakgalbi for that crunch.

I tried the sauce, salt, and soy versions of Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi, and honestly the salt dakgalbi was the best. The crispy chicken skin puts a lot of regular charcoal chicken places to shame — truly excellent.

It's been a while since I had charcoal-grilled dakgalbi, but was it always this good? haha This Guro bar is really the real deal. I also grilled and ate plenty of the chicken neck meat, a specialty cut.

Charcoal dakgalbi pairs really well with pickled radish and perilla leaf wraps. There's plenty of sauce to go with it too, so try different combos to find your favorite.

Chilled pork belly quality at an all-you-can-eat price

It's not just the dakgalbi that's good — the pork belly was really tasty too. This high-quality chilled pork belly... I can't believe it's from a budget all-you-can-eat spot.

The taste is good too. Same quality as what you'd get at any other regular Korean BBQ place haha.

I was already stuffed but tried the soy sauce dakgalbi too. It's delicious as well, but my pick is still the salt version!

Final verdict, plus the Naver Place save-and-win event

Finished the meal off with the soy sauce dakgalbi! This was my first time at Sagyejinmi/Bak Jeongmi Dakgalbi and it was genuinely satisfying. I'll definitely come back next time haha.

There's also a Naver Place save/notification event where you get to spin for a prize — I got 4th place and won ice cream.

While we were in the middle of eating, someone won 1st place, so the owner, Bak Jeongmi, came out and we had an impromptu little recreation event lol, it was fun and lively.
