In short
Jeonju House is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon, serving fresh pork belly on a cast-iron lid with house-made aged kimchi. Today, I’m introducing Jeonju House, where I had a proper cast-iron-lid pork belly feast in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon! What especially caught my attention was the row of earthenware jars packed beside the restaurant—definitely not ordinary, haha. Since this is a place where you can enjoy house-made kimchi and aged kimchi with pork belly, I was looking forward to the kimchi just as much as the meat!
Jeonju House location and the earthenware jars outside

A kimchi standout, starting with the jars outside

Before entering Jeonju House, the first thing I noticed was the earthenware jars lined up beside the restaurant!

You rarely see rows of earthenware jars at a typical barbecue restaurant, so they immediately made me excited about the kimchi!!

If you’re looking for a pork belly restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon that does aged kimchi well, Jeonju House definitely has its own character!

A generous spread of more than 10 side dishes

Once we ordered pork belly, the table was filled with side dishes.

There was such a variety of dishes to have with the meat, from kimchi and shredded scallion salad to pickled onions, salad, and fried tofu.

There was also a self-serve bar for extra side dishes, so we could enjoy plenty without running short. I think it would suit anyone looking for pork belly in Yuseong, Daejeon with a generous selection of sides.
Three portions of thick fresh pork belly on a cast-iron lid

This time, we ordered three 150 g portions of fresh pork belly on a cast-iron lid (₩16,000 × 3)! The slices were quite thick, with a good balance of fat and lean meat, and looked delicious even before grilling.

And the heart of Jeonju House is this huge cast-iron lid!! Once the pork belly goes on, it sizzles away and the fat naturally runs down toward the bottom.

Grilling the aged kimchi and garlic in that fat is a combination that is honestly hard to make taste bad!! The golden pork belly was lightly crisp outside and juicy within, and even with just a little ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), its nutty richness really came through.

Among pork belly spots in Yuseong, Daejeon, this is exactly the style that comes to mind when you want to grill kimchi properly on an old-school cast-iron lid!
The pork belly combination with aged kimchi and scallion salad
Aged kimchi + scallion salad + pork belly is an unbelievable combination~~

Personally, if you come to Jeonju House, you have to try this combination. I topped a piece of nicely grilled pork belly with aged kimchi that had soaked up the meat fat on the cast-iron lid, along with scallion salad.

The quality of the aged kimchi was especially incredible. It was not simply sour kimchi—it had a deep savory flavor that felt like it had been fermented for a long time.

It tasted like it had been made by an expert who had spent 50 years making aged kimchi! I’d think of coming back because of the kimchi, even more than the meat. I liked the pork itself too, but the delicious kimchi made me even more satisfied. So if you’re looking for a pork belly restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon with great kimchi, I’d recommend Jeonju House.
Finishing with soybean paste stew and fried rice

After eating a fair amount of pork belly, we added soybean paste stew. The broth with tofu and vegetables was earthy and just a little spicy, perfect for a spoonful after rich pork belly.

And when you come to a pork belly restaurant, fried rice is obviously the essential final course, right???!!!

They stir-fried kimchi, rice, seaweed flakes, and more in the leftover meat fat on the cast-iron lid, and the visuals alone had already won the game!

The fried rice filled the wide cast-iron lid, infused with the deep flavor of kimchi, and I kept reaching for another spoonful even though I was full. If you want to finish a pork belly meal in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon properly, I totally recommend this course!
