Yuseong pork cutlet restaurant: spicy onion sauce at Gatjidong
In short
Gatjidong Noeun Branch is a pork cutlet restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon. I tried the signature half-and-half pork cutlet, spicy onion pork cutlet, and buckwheat soba on a hot day. Verdict: the stretchy cheese, spicy sauce, and chilled soba made a great combination.

I was craving crispy cheese pork cutlet that day, so I took a recommendation and visited Gatjidong Noeun Branch.
Gatjidong Noeun Branch information and atmosphere
Gatjidong Noeun Branch did not have its own parking, so I parked in a nearby lot and took a leisurely walk over to the restaurant.

Hours were 11:00–21:00 daily, with closures on public holidays. You could also find it through several delivery apps, including Baemin, Coupang Eats, Yogiyo, and Ddangyeoyo. Best of all, it is an Onnuri Gift Certificate merchant, so you can pay at a discounted price.

The restaurant was neat, with an atmosphere where eating alone felt easy, too.

Each table had a kiosk, so you could order and pay right away.

At the self-serve corner, you could take rice, doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup), and soup to your liking. There were children's bowls, too, along with kimchi and danmuji (pickled yellow radish).

Ordering the half-and-half pork cutlet and spicy onion pork cutlet
We ordered Gatjidong Noeun Branch's signature half-and-half pork cutlet and spicy onion pork cutlet. It was quite hot that day, so we added buckwheat soba, and I think it was the perfect choice. They also had udon, side dishes, and rice bowl options.

They also sell beer and highballs, so I thought it would be just right for adults looking for snacks to have with drinks.

We started by helping ourselves to some soup. The smooth soup felt like it whetted the appetite.

We also brought back kimchi and pickled radish from the self-serve corner.

Half-and-half pork cutlet with wonderfully stretchy cheese
The half-and-half pork cutlet came with regular pork cutlet and cheese pork cutlet together. With rice and cabbage salad on the side, it felt like a generous meal. Because it had just been fried nice and crisp, the cheese packed inside stretched right out—it was amazing.

Look at that hot cheese stretching from the inside. Doesn't it look incredibly appetizing?

The pork was cooked just right, of course, and the cheese pork cutlet, which both kids and adults would love, was so full of cheese it practically overflowed. The crispy exterior and the salty, chewy cheese inside worked together so well. The pork cutlet itself was wonderfully crisp and exactly to my taste.

Spicy onion pork cutlet where the onions and sauce shine
Next was the spicy onion pork cutlet. It was a crispy pork cutlet piled high with onions.

Personally, I really loved the sauce. It cut through the richness of the fried pork cutlet, and the crisp onions and sauce were a perfect match.

The pork was thick, too, and it was cooked well without any unpleasant smell. I especially liked the seasoned sauce on the spicy onion pork cutlet, so I thought it was great eaten with rice.

It was also perfect to place on top of rice and eat together.

It was so delicious alongside the crisp cabbage salad.

Buckwheat soba that was a great call on a hot day
Next came the buckwheat soba. I ordered it thinking that on a hot day like this, a bowl of soba would be so refreshing. The buckwheat noodles were nicely springy, too.
It came with chilled broth dotted with tiny slivers of ice.

The ice made it so refreshing. It immediately felt like, yes, this is it.

I added a little oroshi (grated daikon radish) and wasabi, then dipped in plenty of buckwheat soba. It was chewy and refreshing itself, and it felt like it completely washed away the richness of the fried pork cutlet. If you have a smaller appetite, I would recommend sharing one half-and-half pork cutlet with the buckwheat soba.

Gatjidong Noeun Branch was delicious not only for its crispy cheese pork cutlet but for its other dishes, too. The buckwheat soba itself was refreshing, making it just right for slurping down a bowl on a hot summer day like these. It is not far from Noeun Station, so it is easy to walk to and would be a great date spot as well—a good restaurant near Daejeon World Cup Stadium.
