Pollack roe add-on and bibim naengmyeon timing for two: Yangeunine

In short

Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch is a Korean restaurant serving bossam (boiled pork wraps) and pollack soup, tucked in an alley off Teheran-ro 83-gil near Samseong Station and COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. Two diners ordered the ₩48,000 Yangeunine set plus a rice ball and a pollack roe add-on, and ended up too full from the meat by the time the set naengmyeon (cold noodles) arrived about 30 minutes later. Verdict: get the roe add-on without question, but ask for the naengmyeon to come out with the rest of the food.

I visited Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch today! With the temperature swings lately I was craving something soupy and a hearty Korean spread, and while searching I found a buzzy new spot that's been getting word-of-mouth as a bossam place near Samseong Station and a Korean restaurant near COEX.

The vibe in a Samseong-dong alley, and seating for groups and dinners

Yangeunine, a short walk from the subway station and a well-known bossam spot near Samseong Station, had a really clean and pleasant interior. It seemed perfect for office lunches or after-work group dinners near Samseong Station, and the decor was also lovely enough for family gatherings — a proper Korean restaurant near COEX.

With both private room seating and group tables, it's exactly the kind of Korean restaurant near COEX you'd want for a lunch spot or a company dinner around Samseong-dong (´▽`ʃ❤ƪ)

What's in the Yangeunine set? From ₩70,000 down to ₩40,000-something

Yangeunine set, ₩48,000 (would I order again: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) — a hearty spread of spicy pollack soup, squid bossam, and your choice of water or spicy naengmyeon. It's a fantastic-value bossam menu near Samseong Station, an easy-to-enjoy combo for lunch or a dinner get-together, and one that anyone touring the Korean restaurants near COEX for lunch would be very satisfied with.

We added a rice ball (₩3,000) for extra heartiness and topped up the pollack soup with a roe add-on (₩4,000/100g) to round out an even more generous, great-value spread.

The pollack soup pot on the burner was piled with green onion and crown daisy, and it got spicier and richer the longer it simmered.

If you love roe, you absolutely have to pay the ₩4,000 for the add-on... When I dug through the pot with the ladle, plump, fresh roe and soft roe kept coming up endlessly and I actually let out a cheer out loud. The spicy-sweet seasoned squid and tender meat wrapped in lettuce were also incredible as a bossam dish near Samseong Station, and I became convinced this would make a great lunch too. What really surprised me was how good the bibim naengmyeon included in the set was — the moment I picked up a juicy piece of meat with my chopsticks and wrapped it into the naengmyeon, I thought, yep, this is what a proper bossam spot near Samseong Station looks like haha.

When does the set naengmyeon come out?

Quick tip: for the best flavor, the naengmyeon in the set comes out about 30 minutes after you order, so if you want to eat it right alongside the meat, ask in advance to have it brought out together. We filled up too much on the bossam meat at the start and couldn't finish the naengmyeon, which was a bummer ㅠㅠㅠㅠ. Next time I'll ask for the naengmyeon together from the start, even at lunch.

Is it enough for 2–3 people? Final verdict and who should go

The Yangeunine set spread after finishing the meal

With two of us adding the rice ball and roe on top of the set, the portion was extremely generous — plenty even shared among three people. When we arrived at 5pm on an early weekend evening it was quiet, but by past 6pm it filled up fast with groups and dinner parties, which made it clear this Korean restaurant near COEX is already well known.

If you're looking for a great-value bossam spot near Samseong Station in Gangnam, or a Korean restaurant near COEX for a tidy lunch spread, I strongly recommend Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch.
