I was craving a burger for the first time in a while, so I headed to bd Burger, a well-known burger spot near Seongsu Station, with Bean.

Let me give you my honest review of bd Burger Seongsu, where not just the burgers but even the sides were special.

Where is bd Burger Seongsu, and is there a wait? Yeonmujang-gil by Seongsu Station Exit 3

bd Burger, a hot burger spot in Seongsu, sits on Yeonmujang-gil near Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, not far from the station on foot.

I heard the line stretches all the way down these stairs on weekends, but luckily it was a weekday early evening so I got in with no wait.

No closed days and no break time, so you can visit anytime. They even have a weekday lunch set — jealous of everyone who works in Seongsu :(

Inside bd Burger Seongsu: second-floor dining room and the self-bar

The bd Burger Seongsu store had exactly that hip Seongdong-dong feel.

Being on the second floor gave it an open feel, and inside there were about ten tables including some group tables.

It's on the brighter side, and even though it's a burger joint, the atmosphere works fine for a date too.

There's a self-bar in one corner where you can grab disposables, utensils, and so on. This is also where you get your one free drink refill if you ordered a drink.

Hot sauce and ketchup are also available.

The restroom is outside and shared, but it's exclusively for bd Burger Seongsu customers, and it even had hand soap and mouthwash.

How to order at bd Burger Seongsu and swap the set fries

There's no separate menu board — you order through table order. The shrimp burger is what they're famous for.

We ordered one of the famous shrimp burgers and one meat patty burger. You can swap the fries in your set, and uniquely, they offer eggplant/mushroom fritters, so I swapped to eggplant & mushroom.

There were quite a few takeout customers too — if you pre-order through Naver Place, you can pick it up right away.

How do the bd Grilled Shrimp Avocado and Double Cheese Burger taste?

The visuals on bd Burger Seongsu's handmade burgers are insane.

Here's what we ordered!

Plump whole shrimp with well-ripened avocado make it creamy, but the spicy sauce keeps it from being heavy at all — a shrimp burger totally to my taste.

A rich, American-style burger with cheese, two patties, and grilled onions. The patty was so savory and greasy — completely Bean's style, and he loved it.

I tried it too, and the patty was really excellent, and the buns were soft and delicious as well.

Mushroom & eggplant fritters: the side worth choosing over fries

I swapped one set to the mushroom & eggplant fritters, and the mushrooms were really special.

Juicy mushrooms wrapped in a crispy batter, paired with chipotle sauce, with zero heaviness! The regular fries are good too, but the mushrooms and eggplant are so special that I'd really recommend trying them.

Unlike the usual mayo-based coleslaw at most burger places, this one was dressed in a tangy, non-mayo sauce, almost like pickles. It was perfect for when things got a bit heavy.

I didn't know this before, but apparently the name 'bd' comes from the two-thumbs-up gesture — haha, tastes good, I approve!
